Currently the Magic Kingdom at WDW has Spectro Magic as its night time parade and California Adventure has Disneys Electrical Parade(DEP). The California classic gets the nod in my book. There is just something about the Boroque Hoedown that I just really enjoy. The score to Spectro Magic is good too but still not the same to me as the MSEP one. The float technology and special effects definitely goes to the 1990s Spectro Magic but there is still something about the original MSEP floats that works for me. Sometimes simplicity does the trick. There are two really cool/wow moments in Spectro Magic. The first is the initial Mickey float with the smoke, fiber optics, strobe lights. The second is the finale unit that changes from color to white lights and back again. Its impressive to look down Main Street and watch the transition. Those two wow moments are good, but the feeling of seeing the giant American Flag and Eagle round the corner and Stars and Stripes forever played is so much stronger in my view. I was really impressed after 9/11 at how many people stood and applauded the float as it went by. A fitting tribute and a great finale. The claps are still there now a days but not nearly as loud as a couple years ago in my view.
