I arrived at the Disneyland Resort just before 5:30am and found this long line at the security check point coming from Harbor Blvd.
Looks like at one point the line wrapped but for now it was just a long line.
The Main Street Train Station as the skies start to brighten a bit.. it was 5:35am.
  • Page Number: 2
Main Street was jammed.. guests filled the street and Town Square.
At the North end of the street were the guests who stayed up all night and the assembled media to see the opening.
Cast Members started to line the street to greet the guests.
  • Page Number: 3
10 minutes to go.. a DJ was pumping up the crowd and the media were doing interviews and taking pictures.
AT 5:55 a countdown and fireworks to kick off 24 hours at the park.

    Guests are on the move.
The first guests are entering the hub.
Several cast members out front setting a pace and guiding them to the hub before they were set free.

For the next half hour this was our view.. a constant stream of guests entering the park.
    A wider shot.
  • Page Number: 6
Some guests had plush as well as signs to hold up.
This picture was taken at 6:22am. The first guests were moving at 5:55am.
By 6:24am the crowd had thinned enough to allow us out into the street.
  • Page Number: 7
Here is my video of the opening moment and the first guests entering the park.
The view of Main Street at 6:30am
Found this interesting.. a cast member was out doing some gardening. Guess around their regular time.. just this morning the park was opening.
  • Page Number: 8
As you entered today you could pick up an Inside Out Button.
Here is the new Guidemap for Disneyland. It features Paint the Night.
The timesguide for today at Disneyland.

Many new merchandise offerings are being rolled out around the parks. One of which is a new series of Pressed Coins. Here is a pamphlet I picked up showing the new coins and their locations.

The view of Main Street at 7:05am. Still a lot of guests flooding into the park.
The Emporium is receiving new animated window displays for the 60th Anniversary. The Peter Pan one made its debut on Friday. The others should follow soon.

Here is a quick video clip of the new window in action.
This is the line for the Market House at 7:12am.. it stretch down past Disney Showcase. Guess everyone wanted their Starbucks before starting their day.

A check of the waits as of 7:15am
The popcorn cart in the hub was open and selling the new Balloon shaped buckets.. they had the blue one. The line was massive at this hour.
A look at the new bucket choices. The balloon shaped one comes in three colors (blue, purple and red). Each location that sells them only sold one color so you have to look for the location/color you want.
  • Page Number: 14
Several morning shows were broadcasting from the park. Here is the local Los Angeles KTLA one in the hub.
I found the end of the line for popcorn. It went all the way around to almost the center. We counted about 100 guests.
Sleeping Beauty Castle on this overcast morning.

Throughout the park there were large, and in this case smaller, photo ops set up so you can mark the time.
The Matterhorn reopened today to all guests. The cast member I spoke to said it was about 150 minutes when I walked by just before 7:30am.
They had an extended/tape queue ready if needed and cast members armed with more tape too.
  • Page Number: 16
The line for breakfast at the Tomorrowland Terrace stretched back to Nemo.

its a Small World had a 15 min wait posted. Only loading one side and it seemed slow..
  • Page Number: 18
The Fantasyland Popcorn cart was not open yet. Later in the day walked by and the line for this one stretched about 2/3 the way back to Storybook, they had the Cinderella Coach buckets.
Guests already finding places to sleet. It was only 7:39am, the park had not been open an hour yet... guessing they spent the night in the esplanade? Was not about to wake them to find out.

Another long line.. this one for the River Belle Terrace breakfast
A look down at Adventureland. On the left the line for River Belle. You can see one that wrapped from the other side going down the middle, and then follow the one from the door on the left and it goes back toward the Oasis in the distance.
See the end of the line down there?
  • Page Number: 22
Here you can see the one that wraps around to the other door. Also note the lack of strollers.. it was that way most of the day throughout the park. Seems many guests with small kids made the call to avoid the park.
A check of the waits at 8:15am
  • Page Number: 23
Several guests already claiming spots for Paint the Night this evening. Only 12.5 hours until it starts at 8:50pm (it was 8:20am)

As of 8:30am it was easy to park hop.

Buena Vista Street had a good size crowd. One the left is the end of the merchandise line that went all the way to Carthay Circle doorway into Elias & Co
Once inside it doubled back through the store and toward the back. I did not go any further in than this.

They were distributing FastPasses for both the 9pm and 3am World of Color shows.
The machines on the left were 3am and on the right 9pm. Why do they not do this all the time so you can pick your show
  • Page Number: 35

Town Square at 1:30pm. Most of the curb seating had been taken along the parade route for Paint the Night Already. Only a little over 7 hours until it steps off.
Out in the street a lot of guests moving around but not too bad.
Further up the parade route the same scene. Guests camped out everywhere.
  • Page Number: 51
The hub parade spots were fill in fast too.
A check of the wait times at 1:42pm. Long but not insane. It seems a large percentage of guests are camping out, in a food, or restroom line. Disneyland sent out a tweet saying they had stopped admitting new guests at 1:50pm
Still gloomy skies around the resort.
  • Page Number: 52
    Disneyland 60 balloons
Out in the Small World Mall there were guests camped out but nothing like Main Street yet.

Frontierland had a lot of guests but they were moving.. I would say lighter than the holiday crowds, probably just around the feeling of a normal busy day.
New Orleans Square from ground level
  • Page Number: 54
A lot of guests moving around New Orleans Square as is the norm. As I have said many times framing can alter the story.. compare this shot to the following..
Looking the other way from a slightly elevated position.
Decided to get something to eat from the Stage Door Cafe. Took this picture after being in line a few minutes.. it was 2:59pm

Decided since I had been 11 hours since I entered the park it was time for my first attraction. The Mark Twain at 4:30pm
A look into Frontierland from the top deck of the Mark Twain.

New Orleans Square. From this angle you can see it has been worse on many previous trips. It helps when thousands of guests are camped out on Main Street all day.
Passing the Canoes and Critter Country
Stopped by the Springtime round up was quiet as usual.

Thor at the new Avengers meet and greet location. It opened yesterday.
Their old home in Innoventions is still being worked on. On the lower level looks like they are taking down much of the facade.

The crowd for the first set was not too much larger than an average Friday.
A rare sight for me.. FastPass for the first Fantasmic.. I had never succeeded in that until today. Green is the second on the Pirates Bridge.
  • Page Number: 67
Passing Buzz on my way to Fantasmic
A blurry shot of the Castle thanks to a cast member yelling to keep walking.. there was no crowd so not sure why you can not pause for a pic.. this was from the hub near Partners.
Again urged loudly by a CM to keep moving so a blurry shot of Main Street USA.. busy but not grid lock. This was 8:13pm.. just under 40 minutes until parade time.

The snow machines on the light towers turned on. I did not see any others so it was a very isolated storm. Many guests it was behind them.
    A wider shot

Caught the fireworks just as they were starting... and the lights on for the snow
Plus you have to keep reminding yourself there is a full show going on overhead too.
  • Page Number: 74
There were a fair number of shells going off around the Fantasmic area.
From my angle hard to get a screen and the Main Shells.. will need to try to reposition at some point in the future and try a better angle.

A last look up Main Street at 9:55pm... 16 hours after the park opening and down the street from where I was then. 8 hours left for those doing the overnight.. but for me it was time to head home.
The Esplanade had a large area blocked off and exit path for us. Guests were held outside security and in smaller areas throughout from what I could see.. I did not spend a lot of time looking around. Headed for the Toy Story bus then my car and home.
