I arrived at the Disneyland Resort around 1pm. Disneyland Drive had a fair amount of traffic due to Fitness Expo and they were directing cars away from the garage.
The Pinocchio Lot was not being used yet, except for a very small number of spots.
Preparations for the races this weekend.
  • Page Number: 2
Guessing this was one of the performing arts showcase groups today, must be a large high school to have their own big rig trailer.
Plenty of signs directing people to the Expo.
  • Page Number: 3
All traces of Christmas are gone from the Disneyland Hotel. The lobby map is visible again.
The Expo took over the convention spaces as usual.
The set up is the same as it has been for the other races. Once you enter the main room to the left is the merchandise store.
  • Page Number: 4
In the center section a stage and seating for presentations.
To the right the booths and displays.
Tinker Bell was projected above the sound booth team.
  • Page Number: 5
A look through the merchandise area. I did not see a display with samples like I have in years past so here is a quick look at several of the items available.
  • Page Number: 6
New this year is a 10K race on Saturday.
  • Page Number: 7
For those that were at Walt Disney World last week for the races. They had a 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon. Then this weekend there was a family 5K Friday, 10K Saturday, and half marathon on Sunday.

New Balance had a large area.
The lines to pick up race gear for the 10K were not bad.
    DVC had some kiosks.
  • Page Number: 14
One of the longer lines was at the Angels booth. They were giving away shirts, stickers, etc.. again.
Outside the ballroom was a photo spot.
Surprised this was not dated.. but guess this way they can re-use it.
  • Page Number: 15
Thanks to the heat wave, we have been in the mid 80s this week, the pool had some guests in it.
But no line for the water slide.
The winter village in Downtown Disney has been removed and the area is almost back to normal.

The lines were mild at the ticket booths.
Buzz ads for Annual Passes are now up.
  • Page Number: 20
The restrooms at the DCA entrance have reopened. No big changes jumped out to me.
This area across from Kingswell Camera looks so empty without a Christmas tree there.
All signs of Christmas are gone now. Also I did not see any Buena Vista Bugles available today.
  • Page Number: 21
The message from Olaf is still at Trolley Treats.
It was around 2pm and all the Fastpasses for World of Color are gone, and looks like they have been for a while.

  • Page Number: 34
The snow has not melted on the Castle yet. Also noticed a temporary light unit on the right, guessing for the races?
The Tiki Juice Bar is closed for some work. Bet when they picked mid January for the project they did not think we would have a week of 80+ degree weather.
    Interesting it says expansion.
  • Page Number: 35
No walls on the side, so any expansion seems to be in the queue area or existing footprint (so far).
A TV channel doing some type of report, it was a CBS affiliate, said CBS 5 on his shirt.
Still working on the right two fountain areas only.
  • Page Number: 36
Cannot tell much with the Columbia work with all the scaffolding.

  • Page Number: 37
  • Page Number: 38
The Haunted Mansion was open today, a day early, as a soft opening. The wait was 35 minutes so I passed this time by.
Looks to be some painting along the Rivers of the Rivers.
All was quiet over at Big Thunder this afternoon.
  • Page Number: 39
Speaking of quiet. With no more performing arts groups scheduled this afternoon the main stage and seating area at the Jamboree was a ghost town. Kind of sad to see.
Over on the Character side there were more guests than last week but still waits were only 5-10 minutes for the characters.
  • Page Number: 40
The characters were still taking time to interact, dance, and play with guests.
Even the merchandise cart was quiet.
  • Page Number: 41
The kids in the area really seemed to enjoy requesting songs though.
    Walked through Fantasyland.
And out to the Sub Lagoon.
  • Page Number: 42
This week more walls are up but not much else was visible. Notice they now go all the way around the Monorail platform area.
  • Page Number: 43
A quick look out into the lagoon reveals nothing, just some subs lined up. The water is down slightly but has not been drained yet.
Space Mountain has not been cleaned yet.
Went for a ride on the Monorail. Passing over Buena Vista Street.
  • Page Number: 44
    The Tinker Bell race preparations.
Thanks to the setting sun my lagoon pictures are not that detailed but you can see not much has happened yet/is visible.
  • Page Number: 45
This is the last weekend to visit Small World Holiday. It closes down for the removal of the Holiday overlay on Tuesday.
  • Page Number: 46
Christmas decorations have been removed from Toontown now.
The trolley has been moved down past the station. Or is my memory just off?
The current frozen treats in Toontown.
  • Page Number: 47
No visible work being done on the old Skyway building. Rumor is it will be removed soon.
Always keep your eyes open when walking around, you never know who you may bump into. Anna and Elsa from Frozen were passing through Fantasyland.

The Haunted Mansion was still at 35 minutes.
  • Page Number: 51
So I opted to take the Train to Toontown.
    Small World Holiday.
Walked by the Mad Tea Party and the lights caught my eye. They featured LEDs and during the ride cycle changed color. It has probably been this way for years but for some reason it jumped out at me tonight.
  • Page Number: 52
Here is a video clip of them in action.
  • Page Number: 53
The Mark Twain with Big Thunder in the distance.
Finally decided to go on the Haunted Mansion, it was a posted 15 minute wait, but thanks to it stopping for some reason turned into about a 25 min wait.
  • Page Number: 54
No changes inside. Was curious if they would use any of the effects from the holiday version, like the projectors in the stretching room.
The ghosts seemed a bit brighter/more colorful today.

    Back to Disneyland.
Found my way to Main Street for Remember.
  • Page Number: 63
  • Page Number: 64
Then back to DCA for World of Color.
  • Page Number: 65
Noticed the new spot lights for Winter Dreams were not extended. So guess they have not been incorporated into the show yet.
There were a good number of kids on shoulders.
They had major projector issues this evening. Seems one set was stuck on a Brave sign. This went on from the beginning until the Nemo segment when they finally stopped the show.
  • Page Number: 66
At one point they had the Brave card off but nothing on. So Dory was off screen.
  • Page Number: 67
As the Nemo sequence was wrapping up they cut the show and all the lights came back on.
They then cycled through the projectors and the screens came up for some tests. After several minutes the show spun back up at the Wall-E segment.
  • Page Number: 68
The fountains in the planters were not working tonight either. They lit up but no water.
  • Page Number: 69
The lights on Screamin were not used either. Was guessing they may make it into the finale, they did not.
  • Page Number: 70
Cast Members waving good bye to everyone. I always find this a bit odd. Seems they should be helping with the traffic flow instead. Or at least out in the crowd. Instead they were creating a bottle neck as guests like me stopped for pictures or others stopped to talk or wave.
As I was heading out spotted this in Carthay Circle, one of the Red Cars was broken down and being connected to a tow.
