  • Page Number: 1
Thanks to the mesh they put up last week you really cannot see the progress on the La Brea Bakery.
Behind the mesh on the west side of the street they were painting the facade of the restroom/locker building.
A weather vain has been installed.
  • Page Number: 2
    A closer look.
From the back side you can see the concrete work.
Moving on to GRR which is still being worked on.
  • Page Number: 3
The wood railings along the walkway are being rebuilt.
  • Page Number: 4
The rock face overlooking the Pier is moving along. More scaffolding and toothpicks have been removed and the holes patched. Also more of the safety line across the top is gone.
A closer look. As you can see this section is ready for painting.
  • Page Number: 5
    Another angle.
    A closer look.
Screamin was open... just a very minimal wait this afternoon.
  • Page Number: 6
The Pier still had a fair number of guests roaming around. Toy Story was a 25 min wait.
The lamp posts are all being repainted.
  • Page Number: 7
Work on the facades of the Midway Shops continues.
This one looks ready for its new sign.
  • Page Number: 8
A closer look at some of the new wood work.
The side facing the Maliboomer park (where the ATM usually is) is now painted and looks complete.
  • Page Number: 9
Time for a spin on the Fun Wheel (which was a 15 minute wait for non swing... longer than Screamin!)
What a difference the rock face makes. Wonder if they will repaint the parade building next.
The crane was working on the back side of the mountain range.
  • Page Number: 10
More scaffolding down on the radiator cap.
Looks like the curb going in the wharf entrance to Cars Land.
On the right looks like all the scaffolding and safety lines are removed from the rock wall.
  • Page Number: 11
No real big visible change from this angle.
The sign for the Cozy Cones is partially installed.
The new facade on this old building is moving along.
  • Page Number: 12
The cover for the backside of the rock work is slowly moving along.
The area we saw them removing the toothpicks from last week is now patched and ready for paint.
A closer look. Notice the worker for scale.
  • Page Number: 13
A couple shots of the shops as we spun by (notice the lights are in for the ATM on the far right of the shot).
No visible change on the concrete work in front of Little Mermaid. Should be opening in a couple weeks (several sites said March 1st).
  • Page Number: 14
They were once again testing Maters.
The Matterhorn is moving along. Many areas looked to have been sand blasted/had the paint taken off already.
  • Page Number: 15
Guess I was wrong last week (due to the shadows) they still have not patched the hole that was cut out along the Racers track, but now almost all the scaffolding is down and the toothpicks cut off. You can see some of the holes waiting to be patched and painted.
  • Page Number: 16
    Another look at the backside.
    Back to the cones...
  • Page Number: 17
    A closer look.
Looks like they are moving the gate/fencing around in the background.
The Soarin sign is not fixed yet.
  • Page Number: 18
A better shot of the new curb going in.
Back on the ground a couple more shots of the shops facade work.
  • Page Number: 19
Along the parade route many of the light/speaker posts have been removed.
There were quite a few trees in the way when looking from the Wharf to Cars Land. Assuming they are staged there for installation along the walkway. I would venture to guess that is not their permanent location right in the middle of the walkway.
Scaffolding up as the finish the facade work along the entrance way.
  • Page Number: 20
No visible progress here, but you could hear them working behind the mesh.
The speakers are still gone from many of the poles too.
A look from the upper terrace. Thanks to all the trees now you do not get a very clean shot of the street.
  • Page Number: 21
The Carthay and Buena Vista Street are looking great!
Spotted these two lifts peaking over the range. Looked to be workers checking something out (most like the impressive view!)
A look down Route 66. Still no fencing but plenty of posts.
  • Page Number: 22
The brick facade went up quickly on this building.
No real visible progress on Sarges
A closer look at the Cozy Cone sign.
  • Page Number: 23
A quick look down the parade route at Buena Vista Street.
The facade on Elias and Co is taking shape.
Thought this was interesting.. from the perspective of look at all the trees.. looks like a forest almost what a contrast to the old concrete look the area used to have.
  • Page Number: 24
The walls around the drinking fountain are down.
Looked like maybe a couple new fittings but hard to tell if anything else was done.
  • Page Number: 25
No real visible progress from Fliks
  • Page Number: 26
An Imagineer checking out Buena Vista Street. (I would like to get a shot from up there right now!)
  • Page Number: 27
    Elias and Company
Mesh up as they return to working on Monorail bridge. So no real good views of the construction right now.
Some detail work being installed already on the Elias and Company facade.
  • Page Number: 28
The main equipment gate was not aligned properly and had a good size gap so I could get a couple pictures. Notice they have poured the concrete between the Red Car and the sidewalk. Also the scaffolding now up around what is left of the Golden Gate.
    The facades of the stores.
A crew working on preparing the facade above for its exterior coat of concrete (or is it stucco)
  • Page Number: 29
Still no roof tiles on the Carthay.
Looks like a color test on some of the letters.
Fencing back up here. Looks like they weathered it a bit.
  • Page Number: 30
There is now a stage set up in Condor Flats. It is for the Minnie Fly Girls show that premieres next week. But today was popular as a shady spot to sit.
    A closer look.
  • Page Number: 31
Everyone spot the not so hidden Mickey?
    Notice the speakers.
Heading over to Disneyland. This crew was painting.
  • Page Number: 32
John Carter has taken over all three billboards.
Always fun to step onto Main Street. The kinetic energy when the transportation is running is great!
  • Page Number: 33
The Disneyana store reopened last Saturday.
The flooring and wallpaper look to have been redone, but the merchandise display areas appear to be the same.
  • Page Number: 34
  • Page Number: 35
  • Page Number: 36
  • Page Number: 37
Not much visible progress out here, since the heavy lifting is all going on inside.
  • Page Number: 38
The scaffolding is down on the left side above the restrooms. The repainting looks to be complete there.
  • Page Number: 39
The wait times around 2:10pm (guess I was still walking when I took this)
The walls are still up on the coffee stand
New Orleans Square was decked out for the Bayou Bash.
  • Page Number: 40
The area was not overly crowded today.
Was pleasantly surprised to see signs with the show times.
I found the signs helpful, wonder if others did. Next step would be to have them printed in the time guides.
  • Page Number: 41
Throughout New Orleans Square there were special menu items for the event. Here are the two Cafe Orleans offerings.
An artist working on perfume bottles.
Plenty of queue space set up for the Meet and Greet
  • Page Number: 42
Inside the courtyard the Prince and the Princess...
  • Page Number: 43
As well as Chip and Dale (I am assuming the rotate and Minnie/Mickey/Goofy take a turn in here too).
    Another offering...
A crew working on the stage on the Island.
  • Page Number: 44
There was a small stage set up along the rivers edge for the shows, same as last year.
Here comes the procession to kick off Princess Tianas Mardi Gras Celebration.
  • Page Number: 45
Thanks to the awful lighting (the picture perfect blue sky and sun really made it tough for pictures but great to walk around!) these came out a bit dark.
  • Page Number: 46
    Video of the show.
  • Page Number: 47
  • Page Number: 48
An attempt to get the proper exposure on the characters... which of course over exposed the background.
  • Page Number: 49
The ODV carts in the area received signage too.
Even ones that had no special menu offerings.
  • Page Number: 50
A face painting area set up near the fountain.
And a cart from the Jazz Kitchen again.
  • Page Number: 51
Did not sound that good to me.. anyone try it? What did you think?
  • Page Number: 52
They were working on the Tomorrowland station, looked to be painting and work on the sign (pictures later in this update).
The Royal Street Bachelors performing on the stage. Same as usual, but with some Bayou Bash signage now.
The Jazz band preparing for their next set.
  • Page Number: 53
    Oops forgot about the glare...
    The French Market offerings.
  • Page Number: 54
Here comes the Jazz Band procession.
  • Page Number: 55
Video of their performance and procession.
  • Page Number: 56
  • Page Number: 57
  • Page Number: 58
  • Page Number: 59
    Next up the Billies..
    The Blue Bayou offerings.
  • Page Number: 60
    The wait times at 4:50pm
The White Rabbit, Minnie and Mickey out for pictures.
Over to DCA. Still working on the gutter system. Also electrical is run for the lights now, so guessing those will be up very soon.
  • Page Number: 61
More of the Cozy Cone sign had been installed.
A closer look, the worker is still finishing up the install.
A look down the street, the neon was on already for the evening.
  • Page Number: 62
Flos was lit up tonight too.
There were a lot of workers and Imagineers around.
A group of Imagineers near Maters (which was being tested all afternoon/evening).
  • Page Number: 63
Noticed they have redone the roof on the old farm buildings so it works with Maters Junkyard.
  • Page Number: 64
    Back to Disneyland.
It appeared the third/center drummer on the left side was back this week. Hard to tell from this angle/distance.
  • Page Number: 65
    Walked by the train station.
The sign out front was behind mesh and walls.
Just liked this shot of the Autopia.
  • Page Number: 66
    A couple random Tomorrowland pictures.
Pluto out entertaining guests before the parade. He was playing follow the leader with a bunch of kids.
  • Page Number: 67
Time for Soundsational (have to say it again, if you have not seen this parade after sunset you should give it a try.. the lighting is great, plus it is just a great parade anytime).
The animation was not fully working up here..
  • Page Number: 68
Speaking of impressive after dark.. more neon was on this evening and the more I see the more I cannot wait to go hang out in Radiator Springs! Speaking of which did everyone catch on the earnings call early this week Bob Iger said Cars Land would be opening in June (no date but at least officially it is down to a month now!). Rumor is mid June... which fits with the model of the past couple of years and openings.
  • Page Number: 69
The swings were having some lighting issues.
Still no pop up projection domes in World of Color, was hoping after the recent work they would be back.
  • Page Number: 70
Remember Dreams Come True went off as planned Friday evening. Last weekend the show was cancelled due to problems.
This wraps up my trip to the parks this week. Hope you enjoyed.
