Work on the new rental location is coming along.
First stop Bugsland.. its hard to tell in the picture but a path has been cut and the wall is down (you can just barely make out the backside of the Tower gate).
  • Page Number: 7
    Another look
Wow a bad shot.. but wanted to show they are still using the temp little signs and the nice wait time signs are gone from 3 of the attractions in bugsland (the bumper cars still have the old sign).
The parade route is still blocked off due to pavement work
  • Page Number: 8
Lights and more trees are in around the new tower
The viewing area is inching toward completion (remember originally it was slated for a December opening.. now I believe its February)
  • Page Number: 9
Not much visible progress over on the swings
The platform looks more or less the same too from this angle
  • Page Number: 10
    Noticed this sign was up.
The two spotlights that were on the sand are now installed on the bottom of this rig that lifts up.
  • Page Number: 11
Several workers out on the platform.
The water is still fairly clear.
  • Page Number: 12
More tanks/tubs to be installed under the platform to help level it off and for stability.
Shades were down on the trailers.
The exterior of the first half of the renovation appears to be almost complete (just some painting on the left side near the bottom left).
  • Page Number: 13
Some shots of the viewing area from the Fun Wheel
This area looks to be in the final preparation stages.
  • Page Number: 14
More new concrete closest to the buildings.
Checking out the progress in Cars Land
  • Page Number: 15

Still drilling holes on the far side for the show building and rockwork footers
  • Page Number: 16
A look at the Little Mermaid site now
    More rebar
  • Page Number: 17
Some divers under the platform, could not make out what they were up to. But my guess is installing those black tubs
Over at the base of the swings concrete has been poured on the inner ring.
  • Page Number: 18
Interesting.. the center part is being covered up, wonder if that is to protect it during the first phases of work?
    No real progress here.
  • Page Number: 19
Another view of the Disneyland Hotel work
A closer shot of the lights.
  • Page Number: 20
Hmm.. not sure what is going on here.. just paper to protect the concrete or something else?
More fresh concrete behind the trailers
  • Page Number: 21
    Painting the railings
Back to Mermaid.. more fresh concrete
It seems somewhat random the squares they are paving in the viewing area.. I guess it makes sense to some schedule/order.
  • Page Number: 22
Noticed the HSM float heading off.. someone asked where the parade turns, this is a good shot. It comes straight and then goes to the right in this shot.
  • Page Number: 23
A couple more Cars Land shots
  • Page Number: 24
    Noticed this rocket backstage.
    Some floats near the Zephyr
More tubs waiting on the ramp to head out to the platform.
  • Page Number: 25
  • Page Number: 26
The work looks to be wrapping up between the Zephyr and Jellyfish
Some support columns have been brought in, is this the start of vertical construction for the swings.
  • Page Number: 27
Looks like some sort of weights attached to the floats.
On the drawings they added coming soon tags (guess people were looking for the new stuff already)
  • Page Number: 28
A new store, D-Street, has opened in Downtown Disney

There is some great artwork on the other walls
  • Page Number: 43
The back wall has a fireplace and then the screen that shows a brief preshow
  • Page Number: 44
The doors opened and we headed into the theater. They asked that there be no photography or video taping of any type.. this seemed a little strong but I listened.. so no shots from the show.
At the conclusion Golden Dreams plays and you exit out to this hallway that is lined with some more artwork/pictures.
  • Page Number: 45
    A look at them..
  • Page Number: 46
  • Page Number: 47
    An interesting collection for achievement...
But the most controversial will probably be this one for the Spirit of Celebration.
An interesting combo.. Elvis shares with the Beach Boys.
  • Page Number: 48
    Michael gets his own.
Then the one that surprised me.. Miley Cyrus?
I thought this was a great tribute to Bob Hope.
  • Page Number: 49
  • Page Number: 50
  • Page Number: 51
    The final picture is Walt.
I did not remember this sign.. cannot believe people (or more likely kids) were actually trying to ride the horse).
  • Page Number: 52
I circled back around to get some better pictures of the lobby area.
The next show was just about to start..
  • Page Number: 53

A good size crowd for the showboat jubilee
The Mark Twain flag was at half staff too
  • Page Number: 63
A sign is now up by the ranch pointing out the photo location.
Only one turkey still, so I guess they only got one of the two this year?
  • Page Number: 64
Thought this was great. Someone parked their scooter along the trail and found a power outlet and plugged in to charge up.
Noticed the rain left streaks on the whale.. kind of surprised it was not cleaned/scrubbed.
I realized I had not taken a picture of Elvis in Small World.. so here are two.
  • Page Number: 65
Some lights were out in the finale room
  • Page Number: 66
Stopped by to check out the Billys Christmas show
  • Page Number: 67
The 4:15 showboat show with the lights on..
There were quite a few people in the area and spotted this one CM trying to keep traffic moving.
  • Page Number: 68
The lights made a difference but it was still a little too bright to get the full effect.
  • Page Number: 69
Signs were up for the webcast concert.

    The lines around 5:15.
Over at DCA noticed this sign for holiday ice cream.
  • Page Number: 74
Headed out to the Pier after dinner. The platform nearest the swings/Zephyr was submerged to show level (the two were still up).
As I was watching one of the fountain lights came on.
  • Page Number: 75
Then they started to cycle through some tests of a half dozen nozzles
  • Page Number: 76
  • Page Number: 77
In the background noticed the projector housings were being opened (well the top spotlight portion)
  • Page Number: 78
The lights were raised and then cycled through some tests.
They also raised the spotlight rights from the two boxes on either side of the bay.
  • Page Number: 79
This looks to be a little straighter than before but still some curves
    They spotlights were turned on.
  • Page Number: 80
A look into the control room
They have TV monitors that show the area
    The spotlights were turned on
  • Page Number: 81
They were all on and adjusted slightly.
  • Page Number: 82
Noticed the lights on the stairs in the viewing area were on too.
  • Page Number: 83
The lights in one section of the parade route were completely out.. this made it rather dark to walk through.
Arrived at Disneyland as the parade was ending.. and the street was gridlocked (they opened the parade gate and directed us backstage and out near Space Mountain).
  • Page Number: 84
Plaza Gardens was almost all cleaned up when I made it back around there.
The castle bridge was wall to wall people.

  • Page Number: 90
This time around they said no flash photography or video taping and nothing about regular photography so I snapped a handful of shots from the show.
  • Page Number: 91
  • Page Number: 92
  • Page Number: 93
    Stopped by Buzz next..
Then back to Main Street (after wandering out to Critter Country and back) for Believe.
  • Page Number: 94
  • Page Number: 95
Some snow fall shots from the finale.
  • Page Number: 96
  • Page Number: 97
Noticed the Electrical parade was still going on and it was heading from the Sunshine Plaza out toward the Wharf (it obviously did not start at 8:45 as scheduled as it was now 9:45 and the finale float was just heading out).
The tents did not seem to be drawing crowds.. everyone was more interesting in finding a tram it seemed.
