We start off taking a look at the guidemaps and mouse ears that were being distributed at the park on the 17th
The ears had the date on them.
  • Page Number: 2
When you folded out the Disneyland guidemap you saw the current park map
And if you open it all the way the original park map.
  • Page Number: 3
Getting off the escalators, something was different.. no noise.. the Block Party Bash sign no longer has a video playing.
Its just a static display, also note the lack of guests milling around.. thought this was a good sign.
Well it was not. Got off the tram and into line.. here is where we started around 7am. You can see the line off to the right (I know its blurry)
  • Page Number: 4
    Looking straight ahead
On the move, kind of defeating to be going the opposite direction than the entrance.
Work continues on the new store at DD.
  • Page Number: 5
I have not been down here in a while, are these booths always closed or just for today?
Our line turned around at this point, on the other side of the beamway was the monorail line that stretched back toward the hotel and out of site
  • Page Number: 6
Heading the other direction, this time toward the entrance..
Looking back, we paused for nearly 20 minutes before being let through security
Once you got through security the lines were not bad at all.
  • Page Number: 7
No wait to buy tickets really.
Waiting to get in (still not as bad as some Fridays, whoever made the call to hold the line and clear out some of the Esplanade definitely made the right call. It was smooth sailing after that.
Yeah! We are in.. around 8:30am
  • Page Number: 8
CMs passing out mouse ears and guidemaps to everyone who entered
Looking down Main Street USA, we paused for a moment by the flag pole..

Several people stopping to take pictures of the assembling crowd
    Looking back down the street
The hub was roped off for invited guests/media only.
  • Page Number: 11
Here you can see many of the first guests in got decent spots for the show (only have to stand for 2-3 hours)
Out in Tomorrowland its much less crowded, but they were anticipating large lines for Space Mountain, notice the white ropes set up.
  • Page Number: 12
    Another of the screens.
Good timing, Mickey and the gang heading out for an appearance.

With the congestion in the hub and the castle area roped off Fantasyland was great to walk around.
  • Page Number: 21
No line for Mr. Toad either
You could not get to the other dark rides, all roped off.
The merchandise was available in the festival areana. The line wrapped around inside and then came out and went all the way out to Haunted Mansion and started back to Pirates when we saw it.
  • Page Number: 22
Here you can see the guests who are entering the final stretch
  • Page Number: 23
Here you can see the line going around to HM and then backtracking in the distance.. I did not walk down there.
All queued up and ready for the 10am ceremony.. it was only 9am at this point..

Shows over and the crowd seems to be leaving without too much gridlock. I cut through the hub as soon as the ropes dropped and it was an easy walk over to Tomorrowland.

Looking back at the media platform
  • Page Number: 34
Walked back to the corn dog wagon for lunch, they were already moving the stage and other set pieces offstage.
