Trip Log:

Arrived at the Disneyland Resort just afternoon and was directed into a spot in the back portion of the Monsters Inc level of the Pixar Pals parking structure. Walked down and caught a tram to the park with no delays. Started off my visit roaming around Main street USA and out to Mickey's Toontown to take a look around. Stopped by the Pixar Pals Playtime Party then walked through Fantasyland and into Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. Continued on into Bayou Country and New Orleans Square. Stopped by Frontierland and then Adventureland to pick up some of the 70th souvenir cards. Watched the 1:30 Cavalcade on Main Street USA before crossing the Esplanade to Disney California Adventure. Strolled along Buena Vista Street then Hollywood Blvd. Took a look around the Backlot area then around the Hyperion Courtyard. Passed through Avengers Campus and made my way out to Pixar Pier. Spotted Rex and then completed my circle of the Pier. Caught some of Better Together Parade as I walked along. Visited San Fransokyo Square then Cars Land before returning to Buena Vista Street. Took a walk to the west of Downtown Disney then on the way back picked up a snack at Wetzels before returning to Disneyland for the 4:15pm Flag Retreat in Town Square. Went for a Grand Circle Tour aboard the Disneyland Railroad returning in time to watch most of the 5pm Dapper Dans performance. Walked up Main Street USA and into Tomorrowland where Stitch was kicking off his Intergalactic Beach Party Blast for the evening. Walked through Tomorrowland and out to it's a small world. It was a walk on so went for a cruise. Then strolled back through Fantasyland. Walked out to see the wait for Rise of the Resistance then back to Frontierland. Visited New Orleans Square and decided to give the Haunted Mansion a try. It was posted at 35 minutes but looked better than that. Turned out to be 13 minutes! Walked through Adventureland and back to Main Street USA. Found my group hanging out by the train station. We decided to walk Main Street to see how the parade crowd was. Made it back to the hub and the group decided they were done for the day so we circled back toward the exit, headed for the tram, car and home. (Walking time 3:42 today)

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

Hello everyone,

Today was a relaxing day at the Disneyland Resort. I had a very short list of items to see and spent most of the time visiting with friends and family as we roamed the park. The parks both felt busy but there were still some good opportunities to visit attractions with moderate waits. The weather started off overcast with the sun coming out in the early afternoon. The temperatures topped out in the mid 70s and cooled toward the 60s as the sun set.

Thursday night Disneyland shared concept art and made some announcements about Future Expansion Plans. They announced that Monsters Inc will close in early 2026 to make way for the Avatar project which start construction then. This fall construction will start on the Coco attraction and the concept art shows the entrance at the parade gate. A piece of concept art for the Eastern Gateway including the bridge over Harbor Blvd was also shared. Construction for that will start in late 2026.

Thoughts and Observations:

  • Started my visit being directed into a spot near the back of the Monsters Inc level of the Pixar Pals parking structure. The cast member had some pity and was trying to space out the larger SUVs in the tight spots by skipping some spots, which was nice. A good size portion of the level is still coned off and walled off from the car fire back in April. There was no sign of work in the area when I walked by.
  • Grad Nite season is in full swing. Today was my first visit overlapping with one. Graduates were being dropped off on the first floor of the Pixar Pals structure and had their own security over there. They were then allowed to cross the tramway and get in line with everyone else to reach the parks. The back portion of one load zone had signs up for them. Inside the parks there were a number of large groups of graduates but overall they did not seem as disruptive as years past.. maybe I just had better luck this year. Also I exited DCA mid afternoon and did not return in the evening. I did find it funny how the photo ops are listed as entertainment options in the Disneyland App for Grad Nite. Not sure I would call the Cars Land billboard photo op entertainment.
  • The Disneyland 70th offerings seem to be settling in. The Pixar Pals Playtime Party continues to be very quiet between shows but an ok crowd for the show. The 1:30pm Celebrate Happy Cavalcade had a good size crowd but plenty of space to find a decent spot even with the cavalcade enroute. The MagicBand+ activation points were walk ups or maybe one group every time I walked by one. The Tomorrowland station has not been brought into service yet and remained covered still today. The 70th Anniversary Keys appear to be out of stock so there were very few in the park and no wait at the kiosks. The Toontown station one is still covered (or covered again).
  • The posted wait times seemed off quite a bit today, both directions. For example Minnie and Mickey's Runaway Railway was posted at 25 minutes so we thought we would give it a try. Walked through the lobby and the queue stopped. We decided to bail out of line and a couple minutes later they did adjust it up to 40 minutes which seemed more realistic. Pirates of the Caribbean was posted at 10 minutes but the queue stretched up to a switchback on the bridge which seemed much longer than 10 minutes. We did not test it though. Haunted Mansion on the hand was posted at 35 but looked better, turned out to be only 13 minutes thanks to very few Lightning Lane returns.
  • There seemed to be a good number of attractions down each time I checked the wait times. At one point a think a handful were down at the same time.
  • Rex from Toy Story is meeting guests at Pixar Pier for a limited time. He started this past week, June 1st. No announcement of what a limited time means. Also noteworthy is he is not listed in the app. It was fun to see him and he played around a bit before meeting guests when he came out for the set I caught.
  • I took a walk through Downtown Disney and there is incremental progress on the projects but no major visible changes on any. This past week Earl of Sandwich announced layoffs as they prepare to close. The trailer will remain open but the location in the former La Brea Bakery is slated to close very soon so construction can start on the new Porto's Bakery.
  • I happened to check the Wetzels Pretzels app the other day and noticed I managed to win a free pretzel somehow. So I stopped by the location in Downtown Disney to pick up the pretzel today. It is great this location participates in these promotions with no problems.
  • The nightly Flag Retreat in Town Square has been altered slightly since the last time I caught the ceremony. There is a new quote read before the Air Force salute and the moon landing is shifted to be before the Space Force.
  • Stitch's Interplanetary Beach Party Blast had a good size crowd when we walked by. Stitch was out showing off his dance moves when we visited.
  • Some of our group did not want to walk the park so they were hanging out in Town Square and sitting on a bench by the train station. A cast member came and blocked off the center benches but said they were ok to sit on the outer ones. A while later another cast member came and told them they would have to move and she was not very friendly about it. The original cast member did apologize for giving the wrong information but it was not a great experience for them or for the couple other families that followed the same initial instructions.
  • We ended up leaving around 8pm since the group was running out of energy and had lost their comfortable seat (they like the comfortable bench more than the possible view of Paint the Night). The trams arriving were still full of guests, some grad nite guests but it looked to be mostly regular guests. As we left the parking structure we noticed the line of cars to enter the garage was nearly backed up to the entrance. We saw a number of cars circling and looking for parking as we were leaving too.
