Trip Log:

Arrived just after 11am and was directed into a space on the Cars Level. Walked to the tram and made my way to Disneyland to start the visit. Spent some time on Main Street USA then walked through Adventureland and out to check the wait for Haunted Mansion, longer than my patience, so walked back through Frontierland, through the hub and into Tomorrowland. Met some friends and we returned to Main Street USA to watch the Disneyland Band. After their performance visited for a while then crossed over to DCA. Ate lunch at Flo’s then walked through the Wharf, Paradise Gardens, Avengers Campus and Hollywood Land. Decided to visit the Grand Californian Hotel and then walked over to the Convention Center to pick up my credentials for the Expo.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Moderate Walking Stats (meaning over 2.5mph): 8,622 steps, 77 minutes.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

Hello Everyone!

I ventured down to Anaheim for a long weekend to attend the D23 Expo.  I started my visit on Thursday at the Disneyland Resort and spent a quiet few hours roaming the parks and visiting with friends before checking into for the Expo.  The parks had healthy crowds for a Thursday mid day and the weather was hot and humid (humid for Southern California, nothing compared to Orlando).

Thoughts and Observations:

  • Today was Disney+ day, not sure why Sept. 8th was chosen other than it was the day before the Expo.  Last year Disney+ day was in November marking the anniversary of the services launch date which makes for a more solid reason for the event.   Today at Disneyland Resort there was a promotional display near the ticket booths, the parks opened 30 minutes earlier, there were ears, balloons, and buttons handed out (by the time I arrived only buttons were left).  Throughout the parks were some magic shot opportunities.  Overall the events seemed very minimalistic.  Last year there were more character opportunities and offerings.

  • I was hoping to visit the Haunted Mansion today since I did not last visit but the posted wait was 30 minutes and the queue was wrapping in the extended area. Combine that with the lack of shade and the weather and I opted to skip it again... so now I am zero for two.

  • I did see the Disneyland Band perform on Main Street USA with the characters. Always fun to see them march through the park and perform.

  • We decided to grab lunch at Flo's.  They were short on ice again and would give you a cup of water but no ice in it and no ice by itself.  I find this very poor that they have not figured out a way to keep up with demand for ice in drinks. Its been weeks now and this keeps happening. If you spend $30 on lunch it seems the least they can do is provide a cup of ice upon request. Instead you have to hike to another location to get a simple cup of ice.

  • The Oogie Boogie Display has returned to the Grand Californian Hotel.  The bakery team has assembled another large creation this year.  Unfortunately it looks about the same as previous years with no substantial changes.  I would really like to see some noticeable variations from year to year. It is impressive and if you are lucky enough to see the team working on installation it is interesting.  But if you visit on multiple years it looks like a regular prop/decoration by this point.  I did not have time to search for the hidden Mickeys this visit.
