Trip Log:

Started off this great fall afternoon heading for DCA first to check out the construction. Walked around GRR and out to the Pier. Made my way past Screamin and around to the Fun Wheel for a spin. For once there was no line! Once back on the ground finished the loop of the Pier and noticed there was no one in line for the Little Mermaid so went for a trip under the sea. Continued on to the Wharf area then the Blue Sky Cellar. Walked through Fliks and noticed no line for the Tower of Terror so spent some time getting some pictures of the lobby area before continuing on to the Backlot. Headed up the street and through the construction wall corridor back to Condor Flats on my way over to Disneyland. Strolled down Main Street USA and into the hub. Walked through Tomorrowland and went for back to back rides on the Monorail since there was no real wait. On the second trip disembarked at Downtown Disney and spend some time exploring the Disneyland Hotel. Made my way back to Disneyland via Downtown Disney. Walked down Main Street and circled the hub. This time walked down the parade route and out to the Small World Mall. Took a couple pictures then doubled back through Fantasyland and out to the ranch to check out this weeks pumpkins. Continued on around the Big Thunder trail and ended up in New Orleans Square looking at the Christmas decorations. Took some pictures then made a quick walk out to Critter Country and doubled back to Adventureland. Ended up back on Main Street as the parade was wrapping up. Decided I wanted a corn dog for dinner so checked out the line on Main Street and it was way toooo long. I went back through Frontierland and out to the Stage Door Cafe instead. Ate my corn dog in the seating area near the River Belle Terrace and watched the parade of people (some very interesting and very odd costumes walked by). After dinner it was dark so made another pass of New Orleans Square and then the Big Thunder Trail. Took some pictures and a short video clip and continued on Fantasyland. Made my way by the Castle and spent some time getting snow pictures before heading to Main Street since it was about 7pm and the park was closing. I hung out on Main Street for a while trying to get some interesting pictures and watching the masses move about. Just before 8pm I headed over to DCA. Made my way through Condor Flats and the Buena Vista Street work and out to the Backlot. Hung around ElecTRONica for a little while then walked by Tower, through Fliks, and out to the Pier (stopping by the Blue Sky Cellar on the way). Ended up out on the Pier and walked toward Paradise Gardens and about the Zephyr decided it was time to start heading for the exit because of an early departure tomorrow for the USC v Standford football game. Walked by GRR and out to Downtown Disney. There was no wait for the tram so road back to the garage and headed for home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Moderate Walking Stats (meaning over 2.5mph): 15,277 steps, 133 minutes.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

Hello all,

Friday was a perfect Southern California fall day. The temps were in the 80s when I arrived at the parks just after lunch and it cooled down into the 60s by the time I was heading home. Crowds were much lighter this week with DCA actually feeling like an off season day early in the afternoon. By nightfall with the Halloween Party at Disneyland and the early closing both parks got much more crowded.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • As I mentioned the wait times at DCA in the early afternoon were non existent. Walked onto the Fun Wheel. Toy Story was posted at 30 minutes. Tower of Terror was a walk on as was the Little Mermaid.

  • I think it is great how even in as little as a week noticeable changes are happening on all the projects around the resort. Cars Land looks more impressive by the day. Early indicators for Buena Vista Street are starting to emerge. And the Disneyland Hotel is on its final push before opening so details and finishing touches are popping up quickly.

  • Christmas is quickly making itself known from the gift shops, to lighting, to the most obvious, Snow on the Castle. The Holidays officially kick off Veterans Day weekend (Nov. 11th) but many of the decorations will be up the week before. Also rumor is they will be taping the Christmas parade that weekend before for the Christmas Day TV broadcast.

  • I grabbed a corn dog for dinner from the Stage Door Cafe and sat at a table near the River Belle Terrace that overlooked the walkway so I could watch the parade of costumes (as were several other tables nearby). It was a sight to behold. You saw everything and every shape and size character you could imagine. Several left us shaking our heads and others were just a bit odd/off. But some were really well done and over the top. Overall a fun way to spend dinner.

  • I again stuck around for the beginning of the Halloween Party and took in some of the sights on Main Street as things started to ramp up for the evening. The traffic flow seemed better this week, I attribute that to the lighter crowd in the park, the party itself was sold out again.
