Trip Log:

Started off this perfect December day parking in the Mickey and Friends structure and meeting up with the Lazygeek and his son then hopping a tram to the Disneyland Resort. Breezed through security and headed for DCA. Strolled down the parade route and through the Wharf on our way out to the Pier. Took pictures of the World of Color work as we made our way around to the Fun Wheel. Went for a spin then continued around to the Zephyr for a ride before heading back through the Wharf and into the Farm area. Circled Bugsland and then headed for Disneyland. Wandered down Main Street, through Frontierland and over to the riverfront to catch some of the showboat jubilee. After the show grabbed Fastpasses for Haunted Mansion and headed around the Big Thunder trail. Stopped at the ranch to check out the Turkey and see what else was going on then continued on into Fantasyland. There was no line so went for a ride on Casey Jr. then continued through Fantasyland and out to Small World, which had a couple minute wait only (the parade was going on). After our voyage we headed back through Fantasyland and over to NOS to use our Haunted Mansion Fastpasses. Once back strolled through Adventureland and down Main Streeet. Caught the 5:00pm Tree Lighting then headed over to DCA for dinner at Taste Pilots. After dinner roamed by GRR and back out to make a circle of the Pier. Made it half way around and doubled back to Ariels. Strolled through the Wharf and out to the Backlot. Made a quick glance at Tower of Terror then walked onto Monsters Inc before making my way to Disneyland. Got trapped in the parade traffic but finally made my way down the street. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz then saw there was almost no line for Nemo (it was posted as 10 minutes) so went for a ride. Once back on shore walked by the Matterhorn and out to Small World for some night shots, then back through Fantasyland, along the Rivers and through Adventureland on my way to Main Street. Stopped by the Gallery and then found a spot to relax on Main Street for a few minutes before Believe. Watched Believe and the snow then headed for the tram, car, and home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Moderate Walking Stats (meaning over 2.5mph): 15,757 steps, 138 minutes.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

Hello all,

Friday was a nice calm day at the Disneyland Resort. The weather was mild in the afternoon and a bit on the cool side in the evening. The walkways, etc.. of the parks felt fairly crowded but the attraction wait times were about normal with many actually on the light side. For example Nemo was 20 min or less on several passes. I was able to hop on with only a 10 minute wait (maybe 1 set of subs).

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • Started off the day with some good parking luck. The overpass for Ball road was sort of open. One half the sign said closed and the other half said theme parks so I opted to go that way and bypass the congestion from the light which was all the way back to the entrance to the overpass. Was directed to the 4th floor in a fairly close parking spot. The Lazygeek said the signs on Ball were directing you to turn onto Harbor (the one near the intersection) then the one near the garage said to go straight but the Anaheim PD did not have it blocked off so he veered into the garage.

  • First stop of the day was DCA to check out the refilled Paradise Bay. Great to see the water level back up to the top. Also it was interested to see the World of Color testing. The projection screens are definitely large but with the distances it is hard to relate to the size of ones for Fantasmic.

  • Went for a spin on Casey Jr since it was only a one train wait and there were two running. As we went around Storybookland I did not spot any substantial changes to the area or to Casey Jr, both just came back from a lengthy rehab. Everything looked fresh and clean cut, but nothing stood out as new or different.

  • Noticed for the 4:15pm Showboat show they are using the center tower of Fantasmic to provide light. This really adds to the show. Over the next few weeks with it getting darker earlier I would think the effect is going to look great!

  • Nothing too new report from the guidemaps. I did notice the Operation: Playtime! - Featuring the Green Army Men is now on the guidemap. Great to see!!

  • Did anyone make it to the Candlelight this weekend or the D23 event? If so and you'd like to share pictures/thoughts let us know.. I was unable to attend so I have no first hand info from this year.
