Geek's Thoughts & Observations

Pirates of the Caribbean @ Disneyland Paris

  • Pirates of the Caribbean - An extremely well done version of the classic Disneyland attraction.   As of 2015 it is still the classic attraction, meaning no Jack Sparrow and crew.  Unique to this version is a re-sequencing of the scenes (Anaheim, Orlando and Tokyo have similar sequences). In Paris start off in the fort under attack with the prisoners trying to escape /be freed (the dog and key scene) then you go down the first waterfall to exit the fort pass through the ship bombarding the fort you just exited before heading into town. In town the sequence is the same as the others with the well, auction, chase, and burning sequences. The final scene is the skeleton caves to show what happened after the town burned.  It also features a very detailed interior queue.    I think this is now my favorite in the world, surpassing Disneyland. I would highly recommend this attraction and definitely do not skip it thinking it is the same as the ones in other Disney parks.

  • Le Passage Enchante d'Aladdin - We wandered into the Aladdin diorama displays in Adventureland not knowing what was inside and was pleasantly surprised by the number and detail of scenes.  It was a nice break from outside. I really was impressed that each land had a walk through, I thought this was a great feature of the park.

  • Adventure Isle - This area is equivelant to Tom Sawyer Island in the US & Tokyo parks. Except no need to board a raft to reach it. The island is accessible via footbridge from all sides. I thought seeing the pirate ship and Skull rock was incredible. I never got to see them at Disneyland, they were both removed well before my first visit, so I was only able to see them in pictures and old movies. To me it was like stepping back to a piece of Disney history, plus they looked great in the lagoon with the trees. The paths, bridges, caves, and areas on the island were fun to explore and felt much larger than they were.

  • La Cabane des Robinson (The Swiss Family Treehouse) - It was well done with what felt like wider walkways than the other tree houses and less steps.. maybe I was just in better step shape after Paris and Versailles.   One difference of this version vs others is no water system in this tree.  As you got near the top of the tree the branches and leaves really obstructed views of the park.

  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril - I am not a coaster person so looking at this loop from a distance was enough for me. The attraction looked very similar if not the same to the one at Tokyo DisneySea. There was no really good (or clear) viewing area that I could find.
