A random shot as I was walking through Everything Pop realized I did not have any pictures of the new menu screens. So here is a sample.
Seemed every time I was leaving the resort a load of sod was being driven by. There were quite a few projects going on along Victory Way.
Passed by the Art of Animation Resort on my way to the Magic Kingdom.. will be going there in a few hours though!
  • Page Number: 2
Noticed some buses now have these seats where the scooters/wheelchairs go.
Saw this group out fishing on Bay Lake as we approached the Magic Kingdom.
It was another picture perfect day at Walt Disney World.
  • Page Number: 3
The rails had been freshly painted.
You could still find a quiet walkway..
The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom training station in Liberty Square.
  • Page Number: 4
    Frontierland.
Missed this groups name but they were entertaining.
Rolled through a couple of portals for the Sorcerers game. This one was in Tortuga Tavern.
  • Page Number: 5
    A wider shot.
  • Page Number: 6
Had to walk through a sword fight on the way out..
    Another portal in Adventureland.
    Another near the Sunshine Terrace.
  • Page Number: 7
    One near Pirates.
One of my favorite places to take pictures from.. especially when the sky is perfect like today.
  • Page Number: 8
  • Page Number: 9
The Princess line was triple Mickeys...
  • Page Number: 10
Heading to the Animal Kingdom Lodge to meet up for the Art of Animation Preview.
A firetruck at the entrance to Jambo House.
Never did see where they were or what was going on.
  • Page Number: 11
Arrived a bit early so walked around the lobby and took a look out at the savanna.
  • Page Number: 12
  • Page Number: 13
I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest of the Allears.net team to attend the Art of Animation Resort Preview that was part of the Summer to Remember media event going on. On the bus ride over they played several videos about the resort (that you have seen online).
Pulling into the resort. This is the Little Mermaid area that opens last (later this year).
    The guard booth.
  • Page Number: 14
Through the trees you can see the bus stops.
Almost a good picture of the entrance sign (we turned and I could not get a good picture since we turned)
    Waiting for us to arrive.
  • Page Number: 15
    Disembarking our buses.
Some characters were out to greet the group.
  • Page Number: 16
Some of the larger than life art work near the entrance (I have a better shot as we are leaving).
First stop the Animation Hall (the main lobby building).
These large murals/tiles of animation art line the wall to the left. (For those familiar with Pop Century this building is the same, just configured slightly differently).
  • Page Number: 17
Everyone is assembling in the center of the lobby.
Overhead on the light fixture are pieces of art work (one is signed by John Lasseter, picture later)
Looking back toward the entrance we just walked through.
  • Page Number: 18
  • Page Number: 19
Looking down to the front desk area (more pictures later but now have to catch up to a tour group).
Stepping outside you find the Finding Nemo pool area, which is the largest at any Disney Resort (310,000 gallons)
  • Page Number: 20
You are immersed into Nemos world with the larger than life characters and elements around the pool.
(the numbers are interview locations that were set up not part of the regular area).
The tour was assembling down near the Cars area.
  • Page Number: 21
Here you enter Radiator Springs (well a loose depiction of it, not a recreation like Cars Land).
On the way passed one of the Nemo buildings.
  • Page Number: 22
    The Sheriff out front.
Doc greets you near the courtyard.
We could walk up to the fence line but since it was an active construction site could go no further.
  • Page Number: 23
Doc is still awaiting final placement.
Ryan Parrish one of the Imagineers on the project was on hand to answer questions about the Cars area.
  • Page Number: 24
  • Page Number: 25
The cones of the Cozy Cone are cabanas that will be available on a first come first serve basis. There are going to be eight of them.
  • Page Number: 26
Mater parked near this building (Lightning is also out by a building but we could not see him from our vantage point).
A better shot of the cones and you can see Sarges in the background.
  • Page Number: 27
The tour moved on at this point, I circle back later for more pictures..
  • Page Number: 28
Back to the Animation Hall to learn about the lobby.
The main entrance down the other end of the hall.
The Ink & Paint Shop is the gift shop area. We entered from the left in this shot and the Nemo pool is to the right.
  • Page Number: 29
Gary Hoffmann from Walt Disney Imagineering talked about the area.
Video of his overview and Q&A.
Carla (I missed her full name and title) walked us through the Ink & Paint Shop as well as Landscape of Flavors (the food court).
  • Page Number: 30
The Ink & Paint shop looks just about ready for the merchandise.
Speaking of which here is a sampling (I have much better shots on my second pass through so keep clicking and you will find them).
Inside the Landscape of Flavors there is a section for each area of the Resort. The first room on the left is the Lion King area.
  • Page Number: 31
Moving on to the food area, it is very similiar to Pop Century. Slightly reconfigured and the kitchen areas seemed more open.
  • Page Number: 32
Looking into the Cars seating area.
  • Page Number: 33
    The Little Mermaid area.
The Finding Nemo area, which has a great view out to the Nemo buildings/pool area.
Art work on the walls and hanging from the ceiling.
  • Page Number: 34
    Some of the Mermaid artwork.
  • Page Number: 35
    The Nemo light fixture.
As you can see they are still applying finishing touches. The screens are being installed.
  • Page Number: 36
Time to move on to tour the family suites.
The Lion King area was not as far along and was behind a construction fence, so this is as close as we could get.
  • Page Number: 37
    Crush and Dory.
The amount of characters and detail was great!
  • Page Number: 38
    Bruce...
A look at the water play area.
Mr. Ray on the other building.
  • Page Number: 39
The family suite buildings (which are the Finding Nemo, Cars, and Lion King areas) all have interior hallways. The Little Mermaid buildings are the same set up as Pop Century with exterior doors and walkways.
  • Page Number: 40
There were several rooms open for us. This first family suite had the murphy bed down. I am standing in the doorway to get this shot.
Panning left you can see the master bedroom. And to the left of that the family room.
Continuing to spin left is a bathroom. This one is done to look like a sub.
  • Page Number: 41
Great shower curtains! (These will be for sale in the Ink & Paint Shop).
Walking over to the master bedroom.
The master bath. Notice the writing on the mirror (that looks like a portal).. Fish are friends.
  • Page Number: 42
Different soap and shampoo for the resort (wonder if Pop Century will get a change soon too?)
A better shot of the master bedroom.
  • Page Number: 43
The window in this room looks out to the Nemo pool area.
The main light. Can you spot the hidden Mickey?
  • Page Number: 44
There is a small kitchen area with a microwave, fridge, sink in the family room.
    The family room area.
The couch folds out to a double bed.
  • Page Number: 45
    The A/C controls.
  • Page Number: 46
Moving across the hall to another room they had the bed up. So you can see the table that seats four.
Had to take another picture of the curtain (the rooms are all the same).
I tried to get some different angles/lighting in this one.
  • Page Number: 47
To better show where the small kitchen area is.
In the hallway carpet another hidden Mickey.
    A sample of the signage.
  • Page Number: 48
Another Imagineer, I missed her name too.. but she was responsible for the interior design/colors. She spoke about the carpet and color palette.
The Art of Animation features RFID key cards instead of the mag strip ones like the other resorts.
  • Page Number: 49
The safe and hang up space in the master bed room is behind the door.
Back outside and touring the grounds.
The pool is on the right.
  • Page Number: 50
A closer look into the Lion King area.
    Some of the signage.
  • Page Number: 51
Outside seating. The little changes are nice compared to Pop Century. At Pop the seating is right on the walkway. Here a planter separates the two. The artwork on boards are building elevations to show what they will look like.
  • Page Number: 52
Does this count as a hidden Mickey?
The pool deck was set up for a reception, but assuming it will be surrounded with lounge chairs by opening day.
  • Page Number: 53
  • Page Number: 54
  • Page Number: 55
    One of the entertainers.
  • Page Number: 56
  • Page Number: 57
The towel return and trash cans (kind of surprised the cans were not painted in a more interesting fashion).
An animator out doing sketches. There will be one in the lobby area too (pics of that desk in a few pages).
  • Page Number: 58
One of the play area gates.
  • Page Number: 59
The Schoolyard is a water play area.
  • Page Number: 60
There is also a dry play area with Squirt.
  • Page Number: 61
  • Page Number: 62
    Looking toward Pop Century.
The back side of the wall I have taken quite a few pictures of/around over the past several years.
  • Page Number: 63
The steps to the slides in Squirts play area.
  • Page Number: 64
  • Page Number: 65
A couple more pictures into the water play area.
  • Page Number: 66
  • Page Number: 67
  • Page Number: 68
A look at the elevations that were on display near Animation Hall.
  • Page Number: 69
Several people said I had to check out the restroom. The mens room is blue and features Mater on the wall. The womens room was pink and featured Ariel I believe (anyone have a picture to share since I could not go in there).
The tile in the mens room.
Back out to the main walkway. The art work is impressive.
  • Page Number: 70
The arcade (same location as the Pop Century one but seemed larger).
A look inside. There is a seating area in the front then games in the back.
  • Page Number: 71
Time for a second pass at the front desk.
  • Page Number: 72
  • Page Number: 73
  • Page Number: 74
  • Page Number: 75
The kids waiting area is on the opposite side here compared to Pop.
It will feature an animator and their drawings will be on the TV screen.
  • Page Number: 76
  • Page Number: 77
A quick look out the front doors.
The second pass through the Ink & Paint shop.
    Some sample merchandise.
  • Page Number: 78
The cone light will be for sale and is the same one that is in the rooms.
    Looking back to the lobby.
  • Page Number: 79
They were setting up for a South West promotion in the Lion King seating area.
  • Page Number: 80
One of the menu boards was turned on.
  • Page Number: 81
Walked through the Little Mermaid area.
Can you spot the hidden Mickey in the Mermaid light?
    A closer shot...
  • Page Number: 82
A better look at some of the merchandise. It is great to see a lot of resort specific options.
    Hopefully this re-ignites the trend.
  • Page Number: 83
  • Page Number: 84
As I mentioned earlier the shower curtains will be for sale too. Here you can see Nemo on the left and Lion King on the right.
  • Page Number: 85
The bar area (I missed the name of it and the signage was not installed yet).
  • Page Number: 86
With people out you can get a better sense of the scale
Heading back to the Cars area.

One last look at Cars before heading back toward the bus.
    And the pool area.
  • Page Number: 96
There is one piece of art signed by John Lasseter.
    Here it is...
  • Page Number: 97
Before getting on the bus I did a quick run out to get some pics of the front of the resort.
  • Page Number: 98
  • Page Number: 99
The bus stops are still being completed.
On the way out a look toward the Little Mermaid and Lion King areas.
We were dropped off at EPCOT and I hiked through World Showcase to the Yacht Club for dinner.
  • Page Number: 100
A CM had Duffy all dressed up near the International Gateway exit.
A pirate band performing on the beach.. it was a social media group eating there tonight.
  • Page Number: 101
A little further down the beach another reception was set up.
Dinner at one of my favorites.. Yachtsman.
  • Page Number: 102
Celebrating my parents anniversary this evening.. they gave them this at the end of the meal.
After dinner went out to catch a boat to EPCOT.

A wider view of the pool area.
    Panning left...
Continuing to the left. This wraps up this busy day. Tomorrow another early wake up call for golf!
