A look outside as we get ready to start our day. This was about 6:45am
About to board the Resort Cruiser
  • Page Number: 2
    Not very busy at 7am
    Same for the Bayside Station.
Onboard the Resort line not much different. The parks do not open until 8:30am or 9:00am

Due to it being a Friday and the trains were busy I did not take any pictures on the train ride this morning. This was waiting at the JR Station at about 7:25am.
I was seated at the bus terminal at 8:17am waiting for our 9am tour. No problems today. It is a much easier trip when the train lines are running.
Plenty of vending machines in the bus terminal.
  • Page Number: 4
On our way, it was closer to 9:30 by the time we got out of the terminal.
Driving through Tokyo... our destination today is Mt. Fuji.
  • Page Number: 5
    Passing over an expressway.
On the way out of town. I was a couple rows back so not a very clear view out the front of the bus.
  • Page Number: 6
The bus windows were tinted and rather dirty.. so the pictures did not come out the best..
  • Page Number: 7
An NEC building, I forget the name of the city.. this is near where the experimental Maglev train is.
This is the track for the experimental Maglev train.
  • Page Number: 8
My first view of Mt. Fuji.. not a good way to start the day..just after 11am now.
  • Page Number: 9
Pulling into the Mt. Fuji visitor center
  • Page Number: 10
A quick glimpse of the visitor center.
There was construction going on adjacent to the center. Looked to be expansion.
Because of it I could not get a wide shot of the center. Here is a look at the upper floor which houses a restaurant.
  • Page Number: 11
Inside the center some posters and information. All in Japanese.
  • Page Number: 12
Went up to the observation level first. Mt Fuji is out there in the clouds.
  • Page Number: 13
Plenty of cherry blossoms in the area.
Get rid of the clouds and maybe a nice shot..
  • Page Number: 14
    A look at the construction.
A closer look at Mt. Fuji. Guessing that is the road we are heading up soon.
Downstairs in the center is a very small museum.
  • Page Number: 15
I only had a few minutes until I was due back on the bus so a very quick look around.
Explaining how Mt. Fuji was formed.
  • Page Number: 16
I think this is a permit or park staff office.
  • Page Number: 17
    A map of the area.
Time to hit the road again. It was around 11:30am
  • Page Number: 18
Typical street lights in this area.
    The road to Mt. Fuji.
Entering the park and heading up the mountain.
  • Page Number: 19
It was a slow climb due to our bus or bus driver or combination of the two.
The first station. We drove right by this one.
  • Page Number: 20
The first sight of snow along the road.
The second station. 5236 ft or just shy of 1 mile up.
Along the way our guide gave an quick geology lesson for those who were not speed readers at the visitor center.
  • Page Number: 21
More snow as we continued to climb.
There are 5 stations. We were able to get to the 4th one so almost there.
  • Page Number: 22
Where we will be stopping, the 4th station, 6,627 foot level.
A small building at the stop.
  • Page Number: 23
A better view of the building. It had restrooms, a small giftshop/food area and a photo op outside.
The buses lined up in the parking lot.
  • Page Number: 24
Looking down toward where we just were. The clouds seemed a little thinner than before but still socked in. This was just past noon.
A sign for a photo op.
  • Page Number: 25
The road was closed.. later in the season you can go up to the 5th station at the 2300 meter/7545 foot mark.
    Another sign/photo op
  • Page Number: 26
They never explained what happened with the trees if this was on purpose or the result of something.
Went back to the viewing platform for one last look. Still very cloudy.
  • Page Number: 27
    Looked slightly clearer to me.
  • Page Number: 28
A look at the viewing platform that was available.
A map of what can be seen on clear days.
    Today nothing.
  • Page Number: 29
Back on the bus and heading down. It was 12:30pm
As we went down it was getting clearer.. we did not stop though.
  • Page Number: 30
The tour stopped for lunch at a nearby hotel. We opted to grab a bite and sit outside and watch the clouds and Mt Fuji hoping for a brief glimpse.
Thomas Land bus.. guessing an amusement park nearby.
  • Page Number: 31
Probably the most clear it got..
Back on the bus and on the road before 2pm
  • Page Number: 32
  • Page Number: 33
    A random Cocos
  • Page Number: 34
    1st McDs I saw today.
A very complicated price chart at the gas station.
A road sign.. our destination was not on there.
  • Page Number: 35
Thought this was an interesting sign. Guessing this was meant for our bus which crawled up every hill.
  • Page Number: 36
We arrived at Lake Ashi around 3:15pm
    Swan boats.
  • Page Number: 37
A pirate tour boat out on the lake. It started to head toward the dock we were at and we thought it may be ours, but it passed by..
    This was ours.
  • Page Number: 38
On board and looking at the lake.
A ropeway leading up the mountain.
    Our boat left around 3:30pm
  • Page Number: 39
    Heading out on the lake
    Looking back

  • Page Number: 41
By 3:48 we were docked and off the boat. It was less than a 15 min ride. We then boarded our bus and drove back to where we started for the cable car/ropeway trip.
Arriving at the Togendai stop on the Hakone Ropeway.
  • Page Number: 42
The fares (ours was included/paid for on the tour)
You could go down and go on the other cruise. It seems it would have been more better to use that boat vs the one we did.
  • Page Number: 43
    Time to board.
    We started at 741M
  • Page Number: 44
The route. We were going to the second stop, the one at the top.
Looking back at the tour boats.
  • Page Number: 45
    Again tinted and dirty windows.
Our destination is Ōwakudani which is home of the black eggs.
  • Page Number: 46
    Passing the first stop.
  • Page Number: 47
Coming out of the station got a glimpse of Mt. Fuji.. the most we have seen of the mountain all day.
You could see almost the entire mountain now.
Looking back to where we started.
  • Page Number: 48
As soon as I disembarked I ran around the building to get a shot of Mt. Fuji and this is what I found! The sun had set more and reflections off the clouds meant you could barely see the mountain.
So I turned around and took some pictures of the sulphur vents.
This house is where they sell the black eggs. Which are hard boiled eggs using hot springs and the chemical reaction turns them black.
  • Page Number: 49
The sun had set more and you could see Mt. Fuji again. It was 4:40pm.
Finally an ok picture of the mountain showing its famous cone shape.
  • Page Number: 50
One of my favorite pictures.. this is a cell phone shot.
    The SLR shot right after.
A wider view of the area. It was cold and very windy so most other tour guests were inside the building or on the bus already.
  • Page Number: 51
A look at some of the hot springs/vents
The ropeway leading down. We were going to take the bus though.
One more Mt. Fuji shot before boarding the bus.
  • Page Number: 52
On the road again heading for the train station.
  • Page Number: 53
Thought this was an interesting sign. Can anyone translate for me? Assuming it does not mean monkey crossing.
We arrived at Odawara station just after 6pm and bid farewell to our slow bus and headed up to the platform for a bullet train ride back to Tokyo.
    Waiting for our train.
  • Page Number: 54
Here you can see the four rails.. the outer ones are for this station and the middle two are for the trains that by-pass it.
  • Page Number: 55
A bullet train by passing our station. It was cruising along at a good clip and you could hear it pressing on the rails as it made the turn.
A still of a train going by.
Another coming from the other direction.
  • Page Number: 56
Ours pulled in and we boarded.
Onboard looks like an airplane almost.
  • Page Number: 57
Caught a glimpse of Mt. Fuji as we set off.
A picture at the front of our car.
  • Page Number: 58
Once back at Tokyo Central Station walked out to the Keiyo Line and decided to take a Rapid back to Disney.
The rapid is in green. So it meant our stop would be the third one, Maihama. Vs the 6th stop.
    Time estimates.. 14 minutes only.
  • Page Number: 59
Once back at Disney stopped by Ikspiari for dinner since we were very hungry by this time. It was pushing 8pm
After dinner it was back to the Disney Resort Line to our hotel.
As we road back Once Upon a Time was going on.

    The Disneyland Hotel
To close out the day, Space Mountain.
