The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
After exiting the Magic Kingdom some of our group returned to the Contemporary the rest of us walked around for a while. Here is a look at the resort monorail queue entrance. There was no line this afternoon.
It was just before 1pm and very quiet in the area.
We decided to go check out the new walkway to the Grand Floridian.
To reach the walkway you need to walk by the newly rebuilt resort dock.
Queues for the resort boats. These were for the Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.
Our destination in the distance. It was 12:59pm as we set off.
The first section of the walkway has some trees and benches.
Looking across the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Polynesian Resort. The roofline of the main building has changed.
The Contemporary Resort on the opposite shore.
One of the few areas of the walkway that had shade/cover.
About 5 minutes into our walk we crossed the bridge over the canal leading backstage at the Magic Kingdom.
This is where the Electrical Water Pageant boats dock.
The old Discovery River boat was in service on the Polynesian/Grand Floridian resort launch route.
In the background you can see a Tom Sawyer Island rafter docked and waiting to return to the Rivers of America.
About 10 minutes into the walk approaching the second bridge closest to the resort.
Looking back to where we walked from.
Arrived at the 1:12pm. The path enters the resort grounds near a service area.
Passed through the Grand Floridian Lobby on our way to catch a Monorail.
The lobby was very empty and quiet.
Monorail gold arriving to pick us up.
Social Distancing markers.. no guests in the are so it was easy to distance.
Seven Seas Lagoon from the Monorail.
1:30pm passing where we started, so less than half an hour to walk there and catch the Monorail back.
The retention pond work is complete and the railroad work in this area looks finished too.
A look at the TRON work from the Monorail.
Walking across the bridge to Bay Lake Tower.
There were 8 of us traveling this time and we stayed in a Grand Villa at Bay Lake Tower. The room was ready around 2:15 and I reached the room before our bags did so I did a very quick run through getting some pictures before everyone unpacked. They were in the living room so I am starting in the loft area on the 2nd floor which is connecting space between two bedrooms. That couch folds out to a bed.
This is the bedroom on the right (the one you could see into on the previous picture).
The primary difference in the two rooms is this one features a desk and the other has a table and a window that looks down into the living room.
The view from this bedroom.
The desk I mentioned.
A closer look at the artwork.
A closet near the bathroom.
Inside the closet.
The bathroom area.
Inside the vanity was a hair dryer.
The bathtub/shower.
The toilet area.
Heading back through the loft to the other side. On the right you can see the window I mentioned. To the left are stairs leading down to the lower level.
This is the other bedroom. This was where I slept and worked.
Here is the table and window.
The view from this room.
An identical closet on this side.
The bathroom is the same as the other bedroom.
Back out to the loft area before heading downstairs.
The kitchen area (I will have a more in depth look on a later day.. today is a quick first look only).
The rest of the group was watching TV so here is a higher angle view of the main living room. To the right is the loft.
Looking to t he right you can see the loft as well as the stairs and main door.
The view from the kitchen balcony.
Epcot in the distance.
The Swan/Dolphin in the distance.
A Magical Express bus and Monorail.
One of the two bus information screens was missing at the Contemporary bus stop (it did not return our entire visit). This was around 5:09pm.
We arrived at Disney's Hollywood Studios at 5:46pm.. so nearly 40 minutes of waiting and travel this evening.
Making our way into the park.
The sun was setting.
Hollywood Blvd at 5:52pm
Our primary objective today was to experience the new Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway attraction. We were in line around 5:58pm.
The queue was moving quickly so not a lot of time for pictures.
Onboard our train less than 10 minutes from entering the queue.
A little over 20 minutes from entering the park and we were on our way out.
The park closes at 7:00pm tonight and many dining choices were already closed so we decided to head to Epcot to find some dinner.
6:32pm we are already transferring to the Epcot Skyliner.
I was on the wrong side of the gondola and too many people to move around (with 8 of us including 2 strollers we filled the gondola) so no pictures of the new France area from above this evening.
Just before 7pm, taking a quick look at the newly opened portion of the France pavilion at Epcot. The restrooms are open due to renovation work on the ones by Morocco.
Some of the group set off toward Japan in search of food, the rest of us found a nice table in France and ate there. This was our view.
After eating I set off to find the others. As I mentioned the Morocco restrooms are being renovated.
Spaceship Earth in the distance.
Passing by Italy. It was now about 7:45, 15 minutes until park closing.
My first view of the new Harmonious barges. Hard to really tell anything at night.. they are giant black spots on the lake.
Passed through the Epcot Experience as it was closing for the evening.
Future World features a lot of walls (they call them Progress Walls). Some feature directional signage.
The entrance plaza fountain is complete and looks great.
Festival of the Arts
8:08pm and we are on almost to the stops.
Oops I missed the Electrical Water Pageant. I heard it but had the wrong time written down so I assumed it was at the Wilderness Lodge.. it was an hour earlier than the schedule due to earlier Magic Kingdom closing.
Still great to have this view from your room. This wraps up day one.
