Arrived at a soggy and rainy Animal Kingdom about 20 minutes later.
No delays at security thanks to the rain.
Noticed this Rhinoceros Iguana out enjoying the rain (well assuming enjoying it since it was sitting on an exposed rock).
Decided to head for Asia. Had about 20 minutes until the Maharajah Jungle Trek closed for the evening.
Asked the cast member before hiking through if the cubs were out and she said they were and active.
Late last year two rare Sumatran Tiger cubs were born in the park. Here is one playing with its mother.
Notice the other sibling sitting off in the distance just watching the show.
Mom had enough and headed up the path.
Here is a video clip of part of the mother and cub interaction.
One of the cubs walking out by the fountain.
A video clip of the cub by the fountain.
Another clip of the cubs playing.
From a lower window.. notice one of the cubs trying to sneak up in the distance.
Then it pounced on its sibling.
Decided to play with the tree for a while.
It was now past closing time and the bypass was open to skip the aviary.
The rain had let up a little too which was nice.
The Discovery Island Carnivale
Arrived back in Pandora with the objective to see the transition to night. It was 7:44pm and getting dark.
It started to rain pretty good so I took shelter in the River Journey queue. This was my first time in the queue as I used FastPass+ on my previous visits.
Outside a good amount of water flowing from the rain.
A drinking fountain in the middle of the queue. No restrooms (and signs indicating that before entering the queue).
A good portion was not in use this evening.
Throughout the queue are signs teaching about the creatures you will see on your journey.
Less than 20 minutes to board a boat. They put me in a row with a couple and another single rider.
A look around the area as the Drum Ceremony was going on.
Now several pages of pictures as I roamed around Pandora as the lights started to take effect.
Coming up on 8:30 and it was fairly dark now.
A brief clip of some of the plants in Pandora after dark.
Decided to head toward Africa for a night time safari before Rivers of Light. It was 8:34pm so I only had 45 minutes.
Had to pause for some pictures on the way.
8:43 arriving at a nearly deserted attraction entrance. Cast members directed me to use the FastPass entrance, which was nice to save some walking.
Walked right through the queue and will be on the next truck.
9:04pm finally on a truck. Several pulled through without stopping and some long gaps between them. So about 20 minutes from entering the queue to being on a truck.
Most of the safari was like this.. dark and some potential animals in the shadows.
Some Springbok
The sunset effect seemed minimal this trip through.
The highlight was the Lion. The male lion was up and roaring.
A quick video clip of the Lions on a night time Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
One of the female lionesses
9:24pm.. 40 minutes from entering the queue I was passing by the Tree of Life. Figured I would still walk out to Rivers of Light and catch the finale maybe.
I was surprised to see so many lights on the Up! building. Wonder if a night show is planned?
9:27pm arrived at the Rivers of Light and the show was not going on. Seems there was a technical problem that delayed the show. I think they were just waiting for me :)
The show started around 9:30 so 15 minutes late.
Only 3 of the 4 animal barges were in action, so wonder if that was the cause for the delay.
Heading back to Discovery Island after the show. They made you walk through Dinoland vs the bypass.. which appeared to be all stroller parking.
A Tree of Life Awakenings as going on as I exited.
Had to wait over 10 minutes for a bus after arriving.
Arriving back at Bay Lake Tower to wrap up my evening. Took almost 40 minutes from the bus queue to reach this point.
