The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
6:02am - Parked at LAX Economy Parking. The SkyLink is not yet in operation yet but looking nearly complete.
A train was parked in the station this morning, no signs of testing going on.
A look into the station.
6:16am - Arrived at the Delta One at LAX checkin location. We were greeted outside the door and they verified our entrance and took our bags.
We sat in a small lounge while they checked us in. Down the hallway is where we will head next to a private TSA screening location.
The check in area (sorry for the odd angles there was another party that showed up and I was doing my best to avoid them in my pictures)
After TSA (which is just to the left) there is a waiting area with a couch and drinks in a fridge if you need it before going up the elevator to the Delta One Lounge.
The fridge with drinks in the elevator lobby.
Once off the elevator you enter the Delta One Lounge
There are several rooms to the lounge. This is the bar area. You can sit anywhere you want and they come to you with a menu, food and drinks.
The view from the table we choose.
An assortment of pastries nearby to look at. You were not allowed/supposed to serve yourself.
There is a patio area that is heated and covered to sit outside and enjoy the view.
You looked over several gates.
To the right you can see the patio area for the Delta Sky Club. To the right you can see the fleet of cars used for the Delta Porsche transfer service.
To the left of my table was this walkway to the left is the entrance.
To my right were tables and the windows looking out to the patio area.
There is artwork all around and a variety of seating options.
In one room I found a painting Mickey Mouse.

They offered to pack some pastries and croissants for the plane.

9:15am - At the gate and ready to board.
Our plane was there and waiting.
To give a sense of scale the winglets were above the jetway.
A Delta employee rolled out a cart with treats to celebrate Children's Day which is a holiday in Japan today. There were treats and activities you could pick up for the flight and she was playing music too.
Other passengers showed up fast so I could not get good pictures.
Terminal 3 at LAX... almost time to board.
9:45am - Starting the boarding process.
9:49am - Onboard. This is my seat/suite for the flight.
Looking across the aisle
My view outside.
The seat controls.
The center storage bins were removed so the business class cabin felt really big. This meant less storage though as you had to share bins.
A Delta Trading card from the captain.
The video system was not working and while they waited for it to reboot they did the safety spiel the old fashion way with a live demo.
10:40am - Pushing back from the gate.
Several planes ahead of us to take off.
Looking back the Delta One Lounge is the two large openings on the right and the Sky Club the four on the left.
A closer look at the Delta One Lounge
The flight tracker app showed four planes ahead of us still (the one was pointing the wrong way on the app but in line ahead of us not heading toward us)
Traffic heading into LAX this morning.
10:55am - Taking off.
In the air and leaving LAX
A lot of cloud cover so we could not see Santa Monica and Malibu as we left the LA area.
Further up the coast you would get glimpses of the ground, here is Pt. Magu
The Delta App was a little slow telling me my bag was onboard. We were already in the air for 10 minutes. The stop watch is since I left my house.
A snack before lunch.
This plane did not have free Wi-Fi. You could purchase it for $29.
Flying over Cupertino, you can spot the Apple Headquarters building

For dessert they had a sundae bar, I opted just for the ice cream.
9 hours to go so decided to get some sleep.
5 hours to go. We traveled quite a ways north. Past flights we were closer to the islands.
A rainy forecast for our landing.
In line with several planes. Most were going to NRT only a couple to HND.
It was cloudy outside so no views as we reached Japan.
The pre-arrival meal was breakfast, we landed around 2:30pm local time.
Taking the long way into Tokyo.. getting in line to land meant turning north then circling the airport.
2:18pm - Finally below the clouds and could see the water
2:19pm - Could see one of the HND runways.
2:20pm - Touchtdown.
A little rainy in Tokyo.
The cell phone connected with no problem.
