Shanghai Disneyland Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
9:56am, so just over an hour to reach our first destination. The Yuyuan Garden Station.
A quick look around while I try to get my barrings and then lead our group to the gardens.
This sign was more help than it looks since I had printed out the Chinese characters for the garden.
We were to walk down this street.
This street sign was much more helpful. It confirmed we were on the correct road (across the street was the Metro station we arrived at).
A lot of traffic in that direction, we were not going that way though.
Notice the gold dragon on the sign post.
The street had several stores/kiosks.
Walking along...
Found the mall area where the garden was, this was no problem. Finding the Garden entrance inside the marketplace was my next challenge. Our goal the Yu Garden.
We entered on the Yu Yuan Old Street.
The market opened to a square.. some familiar signs here.. they really did not seem to go with the architecture.
To one side this view, behind it the modern city.
To the right a Starbucks..
This was great. This guy would take your picture and print it on the spot for you. Of course he set up shop right in the middle of a narrow and crowded walkway.
Here is a picture of the walkway. Our goal was at the other side by those trees.. so almost to our first destination of the day.
Near the entrance to the Yu Garden. The city rising behind.
Looking back.
Some geese.
After paying our entrance fee we entered the garden and the crowd became very thin. Here is a map of the garden.
First up this rock outside the Sansui Hall.
The Sansui Hall entrance
Nearby rock formation.
The side of the Sansui Hall
Moving further into the garden.
Some of the ornamentation.
The rock garden with the Yixiu Pavilion on the right (if I am reading the map correctly).
These rocks were called the Huge Rockery (not on the map but luckily I took a picture of the plaque below).
Moving on to the next sectin.
Some directional signs, the path goes in a big loop so these are really just to help point out the sights.
Some areas have no safety rails.
Renovation/restoration underway.
This wraps up the garden tour
We were close to where we started. Time to find our way out.
The Dairy Queen Menu, it was still before 11am so too early for ice cream.
We made it outside the market and onto the street, this is the back side of the garden.
Time to set off into the city for a few blocks to find our way to our next stop, the Bund.
