Disneyland Paris Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
My journey to Disneyland Paris started with an hour van ride to LAX from home then a fairly quick check in with Air France and security line at the Bradley International Terminal before finding my way to the Qantas Lounge. This is where Air France Business Class has access to.
I did not find much at the buffet area that interested me.
There was a steady stream of people eating, but here are a couple quick pics in between people of some of the offerings.
Our plane was at the gate and ready for boarding when we arrived just after 5pm.
On board and checking out my seat for the next 10+ hours.
The entertainment system offered a preview of the food for the flight.
The information for our flight.
Under 10 hours flying time this evening.
There was an option to switch to a camera on the front of the plane. So you could watch the take-off.
Airborne at 6:45pm PST.
Climbing over the Los Angeles area.
Shortly after take off they came around with menus.
A sample of the menu, there were several pages of the wine choices.
First up a snack.
The appetizer & starter.
I tried the beef option for my main dish, Pan-fried tournedos. It was actually cooked fairly well which was good but I did not care for it.
Skipping ahead several hours since I ended up going to bed.. time for breakfast. Here is the egg option.
Here is what I ended up with since I did not want the eggs.
Approaching the French coastline. It was 1pm local time.
We flew over the Normandy coastline.
CDG was in view of the camera as we were on final approach, just past 1:30pm
Touchdown at 1:30pm local time.
Arriving at our gate at 1:52pm
2:48pm in our shuttle and leaving the airport, so just under an hour. We could have gone faster but our van driver was not there and we had to wait.
Driving through the French countryside. Our driver opted for the back roads vs the highway.
The skies darkened and it rained on us as we neared Disney.
Checked in and in our room at Disney's Newport Bay Club at 3:52pm local time. So about 18 hours from when we left our house at 1:00pm in Los Angeles.
A quick look around our room. We were in a Compass Club room on the 8th floor.
The bathroom area. Under the sink on the right is the refrigerator.
A small area to hang clothes up and the room safe.
The was a separate room with the toilet and tub.
A couple of robes and slippers to use in the room.
The view out our room. We were directly over the lobby/entrance looking out.
A quick picture of the room number so I would remember it.
Compass Club signs by the elevators, but no keycard was required to reach the floor. The floor looked like any other hotel floor.
The Compass Club Lounge was on the 1st floor so you had to ride down to reach it.
We arrived in the lounge around 4:15pm and tea time was just starting so it was busy. Here is one picture trying to avoid guests (better pictures of the space on later days).
Did manage to get a good view of the buffet area.
An assortment of beverage choices.
A look at some of the snack offerings. Tea time runs daily from 4:00pm until 5:45pm
On my way toward the parks just after 4:30pm. Here is a Christmas tree on the lower level.
Looking back at the Newport Bay Club. On the left some walls for renovation work that was underway.
The rain had stopped and skies were clear as we set off.
If was cold (in the 40s) and wet.
The lighthouse was wrapped. Guessing to protect it from the winter weather.. or maybe some renovation work.
Looking back at Disney's Newport Bay Club as I walked toward Disney Village and the parks.
Disney's Hotel New York is closed for renovation as they add the Art of Marvel to it. It will reopen Summer 2020.
Passing the Events Arena.
McDonalds looked calm so stopped for a quick bite to eat on the way to the parks.
Walking through the Disney Village. Christmas decorations, marketplaces, and photo ops are set up.
Frozen II opens here on Nov 20th.
Passing by the entrance to the Walt Disney Studios Park.
The Disneyland Hotel marks the entrance to Disneyland Paris.
Learned they cut off Annual Pass sales really early at Disneyland Paris. Sales stopped by 5:00pm. It was 5:15pm when I arrived at the ticket booths. They told me my only option was to buy a full day ticket, which I was not going to do for less than 2 hours in the park. The cast member was neither helpful nor friendly.
Decided to visit the Disneyland Hotel and check out the Christmas decorations. I was frustrated with myself for not knowing that cut off time and missing it by only a few minutes.
Some information on the gingerbread house.
The Disneyland Hotel Christmas Tree
A look under the Christmas tree at one of the trains.
Back outside and pondering what to do next.
It was now after 5:30pm and the sun was mostly set.
Walked by the Walt Disney Studios Park entrance since it was a clear evening.
Leaving the parks area and heading back to the Disney Village.
Stopped by the World of Disney and it was crazy busy so moved on.
A look at some of the treats available at the marketplaces set up in the Disney Village as part of the Marche De Noel (Christmas Market).
Reached the end of the Village. It was only 6:00pm so decided to take the long way back to the hotel and visit the Sequoia Lodge.
Walking by the Hotel New York renovation walls.
Newport Bay Club across Lake Disney.
Walked around the lobby area of the Sequoia Lodge to see the Christmas decorations.
The reception desk on the 2nd floor.
Back outside the center courtyard is rather dark. Seems like some lights on the trees would be a nice plus.
Passing by the lighthouse as I return to the Newport Bay Club.
Spotted a single bird hanging out in the lake.
Since the lobby was quiet took a look around. Here is the Compass Club desk. This is where you check in and go for concierge services. It is located just to the left when you enter the lobby.
A quick look inside.
Turning around the entry way. Down the stairs are the restaurants. To the left the Compass Club and beyond it the Conference Center. To the right front desk/giftshop.
The reception/front desk.
Only a couple stations were open so there was a line to check in/out. This was at 6:30pm
A small tree in the lobby.
Bay Boutique is the gift shop. I will visit it on a later day.
Passing by the Compass Club Lounge on the way back to my room.
There is a nightly turn down service as part of the Compass Club.
They left a different character card and some chocolates on the bed each evening.
A closer look at the chocolate as well as the bedspread.. notice the Mickeys.
They still have individual bottle of soap/shampoo at Disneyland Paris.
Our shower was not good.. it would not stay up by itself.. so I had to improvise to take a shower at night. Plus it would not keep a constant water temperature. It went from perfect to scolding hot to ice cold and back again.
Also odd was the partial door that only went half way and was low. So water could go everywhere. This wraps up my long travel day. Tomorrow is a full day at the parks.
