Disneyland Paris Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
Just before noon we headed to the Gardens of Versailles. We saw a tram pulling up and decided instead to walk it so we could explore at our own pace.
Plus tehre was a line for the train/tram.
They claimed there was free wi-fi so you could use the mobile app. I tried a couple of times and nothing seemed to work so I gave up and went device free.
A better picture of the small train/tram.
Looking to the right.. I believe this is toward the North Parterre. We opted not to walk that way.
I will put captions for ones that I can match up on the map and others like this that I am unsure of I will leave unlabeled. If anyone wants to send me captions feel free.
Looking back at the main palace
This gives a better idea of the scale.
The ground was mostly this dirt/sandy walkway.. with the wind this made for some little dust storms.
Looking out toward the Green Carpet and Grand Canal beyond it.
There was a visiting exhibit on the green carpet.. more on that later.
The Grand Canal
Latona Fountain and Parterre
A video clip look around. I was not very good with video today so this is the only one from Versailles.
Getting closer to that large sculpture.
Looking back..
To the right.
Again an idea for scale. Look at the security car. This is infront of the Apollo Baths Grove
We did not venture in there..
The large sculpture of Anish Kapoor was vandalized less than a month ago and they were still restoring it. This is that large piece on the green carpet.
You can see what I am assuming is the temporary cover over the graffiti.
The security car we saw earlier.
There were some signs but not many as you walked the gardens.
The green carpet.
Looking into the groves.
We reached the edge of the grand canal
The Apollo Fountain
Looking back.
A group of artists at work.
Some of the groves.
A map. The palace is the beige area at the bottom. We are the red circle near the top and where we are going is off the map to the top..
A look around.
Some dining options. It was coming up on 12:30 and we had snacked so no one was hungry yet.
We took the path less taken.
The rest of the group was convinced I had them lost in the forest of France...
But we did find other tourists so knew we were heading the right direction.
Eventually came to the Grand Trianon and the edge of the Grand Canal.
Looking back.
The Grand Trianon on the hill.
Walked around to the front entrance.
If anyone is curious as to which rooms these are I can try to piece it together.. if not here are some of the rooms of the left wing.
Believe this is the Boudoir of the Empress
The former bedroom of Louis XIV, the bedroom of the empress Marie-Louise
The Lords Antechamber (I think)
The gardens as we walk from the left wing to the right wing.
The Round Salon
The Emperors Family Drawing Room
The Music Room
Cool Salon
Malachite Salon
The Emperors Topographical Office
Cotelle Gallery
Heading outside.
Our next destinations.
The French Pavilion
The Petit Trianon in the distance
The gates near the Petit Trianon
Looking back.
A quick look at the gardens before heading inside.
Starting the tour on the ground floor.
The Grand staircase
Looking out from inside
I think this is the first Antechamber on the upper floor.
The Grand Dining Room
Salon De Compagnie
Queens Bedroom
The view out the window
After visiting the Petit Trianon it was on through the garden.
The Temple of Love
Our trail kept going...
We eventually came to the Queens Hamlet.
Marlborough Tower with the Dairy next to it.
Boudoir
Mill
Queens House
A closer look at the Mill
Walking back toward the Queens House
Not a lot of landscaping around the house.
Warming Room I think.
The vineyard.
The Farm
There were chickens running around the vineyard.
A closer look at the farm.
Looking back you can see the top of the palace in the distance. We had walked a good distance to get here. The guide map says the direct route is 1.5KM we went further since we took the scenic route.
A French Chicken on the run.
This road leads back to the Grand Canal.
We instead took this one that cut through some fields and was a more direct route back.
These little dogs decided to bark at the sheep. It raised its head and the dogs went running behind their owners.
Looking back.
At this point we left the estate grounds and walked through the city of Versailles to return to the train station and bypass the big hill to the main palace.
Ahh this clears it up.. we are almost there.
In the distance on the hill is the palace.. so we knew we were going the right direction.. that is the road we walked up this morning.
Found the train and then transferred to the RER A line. Disney is the end of the end of the line and easy to spot on the station list.
Passing by a random station on the way. The train ride was not too scenic.
Arrived back at the Disney station at 5:16pm. After this headed back to the hotel then out to dinner and to the park which is in part 3.
