Disneyland Paris Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
After visiting Notre Dame we set off to find the Metro station at Hotel de Ville..
Crossing the Seine. I believe that is Pont Notre-Dame
Found Hotel De Ville
Found the Metro entrance (the signage in Paris was a little more challenging than that in Hong Kong and Tokyo to find some of the stops).
We disembarked at Palais Royal Musee du Louvre and walked through a mall to reach the museum.
We did not get to see the glass pyramid at ground level going this way but there were no lines and it was a very short walk.
Got in line to purchase our tickets. There was only only one person in front of us so it was a very quick process.
We could look at at the glass pyramid though.
We entered through the Sully Entrance on the lower ground level.
There was some work going on so the large entrance was blocked and we used a side door.
First up a look at the remnants of the moats dug by Philip Augustus and Charles V around 1200.
Seems there was some event.. or maybe just a plastic chair exhibit.. in any case it was odd and no signage. Odd the chairs were just tossed about.
The Great Sphinx of Tanis is a 24 ton granite sphinx that marks the entrance to the Egyptian Antiquities collection.
We then headed upstairs to the Egyptian Antiquities area.
Walking around ground level.
To get an idea of scale there are rooms like this throughout.
Found our way to the Venus de Milo or Aphrodite of Melos.
Venus de Milo
On our way to the next stop in our Masterpiece tour (or scavenger hunt may be a better description)
Outside a large tent.
Looking up.
Mosaique des Saisons
Winged Victory of Samothrace
Entering the Reds Room
The Oath of the Horatili
The Coronation of the emperor Napoleon I
This is the room containing the Mona Lisa it is at the far end where the mob of people are.
Getting closer
It was a free for all more or less to get pictures.
The painting is protected by glass.
A couple pictures of the Mona Lisa - Portrait of Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giocondoco del Giocondo
Looking outside into a courtyard.
The closest I got to the glass pyramid. I asked how to get out there and you had to go down, around then back up. Opted to go down and find food instead and never went back up.
We walked through a couple more galleries then decided to go seek some food it was 6pm.
In the mall area connected to the Louvre was an Apple Store.
As well as a food court. Which is where we headed for dinner.
A look around.
A McCafe
The McDonalds where I ate.. yep I went to the McDonalds at the Louvre..
If you were curious my meal... next up the final legs of our sightseeing day in central paris.
