Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
Decided to head to Tomorrowland for lunch... not sure why but we were looking that way so walked that way, no grand plan.
First stop the rest rooms in the Starliner Diner they have attraction posters in the hallway.
A special lunch box meal.
One member of our group order the chicken and it comes with Mickey shaped rice.
Another a cheeseburger..
Wanted to note they have napkins with the resort logo on them still unlike we have here in the states now.
My burger.
The coke cup
Walking back toward Main Stret more attraction posters near the first aid location.
Where we should have gone to eat (learned this in a few days when we ate there that the burgers were better there and other choices too)
The first aid and baby care locations.
Castle View Gifts a souvenir kiosk as you approach the hub. In the background is the line board to the left is Main Street to the right is Tomorrowland.
A small trail to bypass the main street.
A special Duffy Afternoon Tea set at the Corner Cafe
The corner cafe is where the Photo store is at Disneyland.
Someone left a park ticket on top of a trash can.. I stopped to take a picture since I did not have one (I had an annual pass which is not a character design).
The skies were getting darker and it was early afternoon.
The Disneyland Band was performing marching on Main Street USA so I caught up to them and followed as they wrapped up the march. Here is a video clip of the encounter.
A look at some of the springtime displays/photo ops around the hub.
A popcorn container someone left on a bench.. so I grabbed a picture to show the design.
The center portion of the hub is used for reserved dining package viewing of the fireworks in the evening. This sign is up all day to let you know.
On the opposite side of the hub is another merchandise kiosk called the Flower St. Boutique.
We were heading to Adventureland and the Festival of the Lion King
They show is set up with FastPass but it was not in use while we were there due to the low crowds.
There was still a healthy group waiting to get in. One of the perks of a Platinum Magic Access (Premium Annual Pass) is you get priority entrance to the shows. So you get to by pass the line and head straight to the doors.
Here are the other Magic Access members.
Inside the theater is very similar to the Animal Kingdom one. Once we were seated and the handicap guests they set up a rope line to guide the main group of guests.
The rope line worked to guide the herd to their seats quickly.
Here is a video shot with a second camera of the first third or so of the show.
The story teller
The elephant float arrived first and did a complete turn before backing into its location.
A video clip from Just Cant Wait to Be King
A clip from Be Prepared
A clip from Hakuna Matata
A clip from Can You Feel the Love Tonight
A video clip from the finale. I plan to post a dedicated section with many more pictures on the show.
After the show walked through Professor Porters store
Then out to the hub. Here is Donald and his nephews.
Found a spot for the Flights of Fantasy parade. Here are todays grand marshals going by.
A video clip of the Grand Marshal car going by.
The wind was picking up and making it challenging for the Balloon castmember
An assortment of balloon options.
Time for the parade. It pulled up and stopped right before me for the first show stop. So this was my view for several minutes.
Mickey through the bubbles in the distance.
Kids running out to join in the show stop.
The parade was on the move again and heading my way. I will include an abbreviated set of pictures here and full video then will post a follow-up set dedicated to the parade.
The Fab 5 on the lead float
Next up the Winnie the Pooh group
Then the princess group
Followed by a Jungle group
Then Fairies
Lilo and Stitch are next
And the last grouping is Toy Story.
Woody stopped for a picture
Here is a full video of the parade including the show stop. I was shooting this with my left hand while taking stills with the other so it may drift from time to time.. sorry in advance..
The Plaza Inn
The menu for the Plaza Inn
We walked through the shops on Main Street heading for Town Square.
I will do a dedicated section featuring more pictures but this is a flavor of the walk.
A promotion going on.
Signs up about the renovation happening on the first block near Town Square.
City Hall, with a US Flag flying overhead.
Stroller and Wheelchair rental prices (available at the firehouse)
The Main Street Train Station
Took a second to register then it did what is missing... no popcorn cart here.
An ad for Magic Access pass upgrades before the exit.
Magic Access Passes are processed in last building, at Disneyland the Guided Tours area.
Some attraction posters on the way out.
A Magic Window
A braille map of the park
I was heading back to the hotel for another layer of clothing and more rain gear. Others to rest a bit before the evening. As usually we had the park promenade to ourselves.
Mickey on a manhole cover as we walked
A closer look
A grouping of fountains along the walk.
Walking back to the hotel noticed the Taxi waiting area sign. This was by the driveway where the cabs sit and wait to be called. There are three lights because there are three colored taxis in Hong Kong (Blue, Green and Red) and they can go to different areas. All can go to Hong Kong Disneyland and the Airport. So here a green one is being called.
A Disneyland Hotel Trashcan
A performance going on in the lobby as we entered.
Grabbed my gear and was on my way back to the park in a matter of minutes.
Now I was really alone since the rest of my group stayed in the room.
So I took the opportunity to take some pictures on the way.
Approaching the large fountain that marks the entrance to the park.
Plenty of seating areas.
A video featuring a look around the fountain area.
Now some stills circling the fountain.
Minnie and a seal
Mickey surfing on a whale
See there are people here.. they all just go the other direction to the MTR, buses, and parking lot.
Another example of how framing makes the crowd look bigger or smaller.. a wider shot taken a second or so after the previous picture.
Donald is having some boat issues.
I really liked how this picture turned out.
Daisy ready to dive in
The entrance.. heading there soon.
Pluto
OK time to head to the parks. For print at home tickets they have kiosks to redeem. Interesting how every park is different.. Disneyland does it at the turn stile.. Tokyo you use it and do not exchange it.
Saw these signs throughout. Guess they have to disclose the camera use more in Hong Kong.
Tinkerbell on a weather vane
Plenty of guidebooks in multiple languages to choose from.
More attraction posters.
Th Animation Academy is the first building when you enter on the right, next to the Opera house and there always seemed to be guests waiting.
Stepping into Town Square
The Opera House has the Art of Animation
Interesting the Main Street cars were out but offline.
A sign about the railroad closure
You could still walk up on the station so I did to take pictures and visit with the security cast member who was hanging out up there.
Looking right
Looking left
Straight ahead
A tighter shot.
A wide shot of Town Square
The crane is from Iron Man Experience construction in Tomorrowland.
Thought this was a fun shot
Sleeping Beauty Castle
The band performing in the hub
The top of the elevator
The structure on the right is the elevator
The Paddy Wagon
Walking down the street
I spent the next hour or so walking Main Street taking some detailed pictures inside all the stores and waiting to see if it was going to rain.
The wait times around 5:25pm
Pluto in the hub
Headed into Adventureland
Thinking about going out to the treehouse but did not want to get trapped out there in the rain.
Jungle River Cruise boats passing by.
Random flower in Adventureland
Decided to head for the treehouse.
Of course got on the dock and it started to drizzle
So I abandon those plans and walked around a bit more.
Walked out to Grizzly Gulch
Started to take some video of the area and the rain picked up so I covered the camera gear and headed for cover.
Found this little walkway between Adventureland and Main Street that had a lot of tree cover so no wind and not much rain and spent some time there watching others out in the rain.
I was there for 20 minutes and maybe two guests walked by.
Most guests were heading for the exits
Once the rain let up a bit and the rest of my group returned with more rain gear we decided to go to PhilharMagic and try to wait out the storm.
Inside the same as Orlando. Seemed slightly smaller to me.
The gift shop as you exit
The selection of merchandise with Hong Kong Disneyland on it was fairly limited.
Festival of Foods
A couple of poles set up for Paint the Night by some optimistic cast members... it was cancelled shortly after I took this picture.
So we headed back to Tomorrowland.
And since the rain had stopped now paid a visit to the Orbitron
You fly in spaceships here.
Looking toward Space Mountain.. no guests over there either.
The lights around Tomorrowland are interesting.
Almost time to board.
The controls for my ship
A video of my experience.
Back in the hub for a night time look at the Springtime displays.
Even with the castle covered this was not bad.
Notice what Donald is reading.
The Adventureland entrance.
The rain cleared most of the guests out.
The grotto after dark.
A meet and greet cover near by.
Walked into Fantasyland.
The Frozen sisters have ended their appearance for the day.
But Olaf is still out.
Walking toward Adventureland
The gift shop windows.
Notice the window..
Outdoor seating for the Royal Banquet Hall
Passing through a nearly empty Adventureland.
And Grizzly Gulch...
Umbrella holders in the restroom
Arrived at Mystic Manor
No waits this evening.
The first time through there were two other groups with me.
Here is a video from my ride through. I was in the first row of the second car.
Back outside
Decided to go a second time.. this time I was the only person in the attraction. I had the queue and ride to myself.
Here is a quick video I shot walking through the empty queue and preshow. The Cast Member wanted me to head into the preshow so I walked fairly quickly.
Here is my private ride on Mystic Manor from the front row of the first car in the grouping.. all the other cars were empty.
Very odd to be in a station with no other guests.
Back outside a couple quick shots of the Manor
It was 9 minutes until fireworks so I thought I should get moving to see them from the hub.. I wanted to get close to the castle.
Arrived with 3 minutes to spare thanks to the empty park and a quick pace. I stood in the first row of guests behind the seated ones.
Here is a video of the performance including the downpour that started during the show... missed a few seconds while I put up an umbrella.
The mass of umbrellas leaving after the show in the pouring rain.
I stopped for some pictures from the train station.
Most guests heading to the left and the transportation area.
I turned right and walked back to the hotel in the rain by myself... did not see another person till I reached the hotel.
This wraps up the day.
