Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
The view from our balcony this morning. A cast member was raising the flags.
Walking toward the lobby today was a little clearer and you could see some of the city in the distance.
A closer look.
Decided to walk out the back door of the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel where the maze is. There were a couple kids enjoying it already.
What the maze looks like at ground level. Adults can see over the top.
Some of the garden around the maze.
The outdoor pool area during the day. One guest doing laps.
The walkway inside the hotel grounds.
Looking back toward the lobby.
Walked out to the Waterfront Promenade. Here are the rules.
The Disney Pier, which is not really used except by local fishermen.
Beyond the pier you could make out the skyline this morning.
This is looking toward the park promenade (will be walking that way soon)
Looking back at the waterfront promenade we just walked down. If you continue past the Disneyland Hotel you pass the construction site for the Explorers Lodge and beyond that Disney Hollywood Hotel (I do that walk on a later day).
You notice the empty schedule. The Ferry Pier is not in use.
So it is abandon as of now.
Hong Kong
A fire lane sign.
Time to head to the park using the Park Promenade
Park Promenade trash cans
More fire lane signs
Arriving at the park, about 15 minutes before it opens.
Ticket prices (for a quick approximation divide by 8 to get to US Dollars).
Look familiar Disneyland folks?
Time to head in. The gates were open so guests could enjoy Main Street before the rope drop.
Welcome to Hong Kong Disneyland Park...
Attraction posters as I passed under the train tracks.
My first stop this morning. City Hall to meet a tour guide who was going to escort us around this morning.
Minnie and Mickey were out for pictures (it was threatening rain/drizzling this morning)
Main Street USA prior to opening.
Let us start the tour at the dedication plaque which is on the edge of Town Square.
A closer look.
Behind us a bandstand/gazebo decorated for the springtime.
First detail that was pointed out to me.. on the pavement on the corner of the blocks are survey markers with a Disney touch..
Here is a close up. A nice tribute to Walts father.
A tribute to Walt and Roy above the Firehouse (which is the stroller & wheelchair rental location)
Some plants in Town Square
Kodak is still around in Asia and sponsors the photos here.
Familiar yet different is the theme for me.. the first block on the right of Main Street.
A quick look inside the Cinema.. the story is it was converted to a jewelry store because the opera house/larger theater opened down the block.
Moving on down the block.
The left side as you enter.
The Castle this morning with the spring time displays in front. Because of the smaller trees the light/speakers for the parade route really stand out to me and clutter up the area.
Wait times just after park opening
We ventured into Tomorrowland to start our morning.
The Starline Diner is the largest restaurant in the park.
Outfront of all the dining locations were menus and sample items.
A closer look
The Astro Orbitor here features flying saucers and is in the middle of the land. Beyond it Space Mountain.
To the right you can see some of the track for the Autopia and to the right of that the construction for the Iron Man attraction opening next year.
A better look at the Iron Man Experience work area.
A water play area beyond the elevator Autopia track
Tomorrowland Trashcan
Paid a visit to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Fastpass is currently unavailable because of the Iron Man work.
The attraction is more or less identical to Anaheim. A couple slight tweaks to the sets.
I was playing and looking around so not many pictures..
The first score board is in English.
The next Chinese (throughout the park you will find both everywhere).
The gift shop at the exit features a lot of Marvel merchandise.
Looking up a hidden Mickey (well maybe not that hidden)
A closer look
Next up the Autopia.. which was consistently the longest wait in the park.
This morning it was posted at 45 minutes already. They only had 2 of the 3 tracks running so that contributed to it.
One of the cars. The cars here are electric. So no fumes or noise.
The roadway is really green and the three tracks curve around each other. It felt like Anaheim.. vs what you see in WDW and Tokyo.
Ready to go... standing still I was already over 10 km/h :) I am going to do a dedicated picture set to the experience.. so for now just a couple pics and a video.
Here is the view from the Tomorrowland elevated section. It looks better in person your eyes block out the bars a bit better where as the camera seemed to highlight them.
I went for back to back rides.. here is a video from my second trip. I apologize for the shaking.. I was shooting one handed and driving with the other.. and not doing a good job of either!
To celebrate Earth day which is coming up some signs up around the park talking about the environment.
The UFO Zone is a kids play area. The idea was if parents/older kids go on Space Mountain something near by for the younger set.
Space Traders (which I kept calling Star Traders) is at the exit to Space Mountain. The snack shack sold hot dogs.
Popcorn and Cotton Candy.
Space Mountain
A hidden Mickey in the rock work of Space Mountain.
There is plenty of seating throughout the park. The queue in the background is for the Orbitron
Another dining location on the other side of Tomorrowland.
Can you spot the hidden Mickey in the Orbitron?
Here is a closer look
Stitch Encounter is also in the Space Mountain building. It is presented in three languages throughout the day. It is just like Turtle Talk.. where you get to interact/talk to the character.
Looking down the parade route toward Main Street.
We went the other way to Fantasyland and headed for its a Small World. Approaching the attraction. With the colors and mountain in the background it is great! Only wish I could have gotten a picture of a train passing by in front.
A closer look at the facade.
Since this was my first ride through I just enjoyed it and snapped some pictures (later ride throughs more detail and video). I will be posting a separate section on it. Here are a couple pics though. First up the USA representation.
And Hong Kong
The finale room reminding me of the WDW version.
Today was graduation day for elementary school kids. They were using the Golden Mickey theater for the ceremony and kids were out front for pictures.
A closer look at their ears.
They were standing on a compass that had major cities and distances listed... we are a long way from New York City! I thought they should have listed the other Small World locations instead.
Fantasy Gardens features Fantasia topiaries and character meet and greets throughout the day.
Here is a gazebo that usually has Minnie (it was not open yet this morning).
The only dark ride in Fantasyland is Winnie the Pooh, which is basically the Orlando version.
This is also one of the two active FastPass Attractions (the other being Space Mountain).
Looking toward the castle. The line on the right is for the Frozen Meet and Greet.
Across the way in Fantasyland is the Royal Banquet Hall (where you would normally see another dark ride or two).
There were pressed coin stands throughout the park just as you find in the US.
Our honey pot arriving.
Here are some pics from the ride (I have a video from a later day)
Sword in the Stone by the Carrousel
The lead horse for the Carrousel
One of the regular horses
Dumbo is in the back of Fantasyland.
Passing by PhilharMagic
We stopped by the queue to find a hidden Minnie
Do you see her?
A closer look
If you want to know the location it is on the first railing when you enter.. hope this helps.
In the queue is a detailed space/office for Donald. Originally this was to be the backdrop for a meet and greet but it has not been used for that purpose, it is just in the extended queue for the show.
Merlins gift shop is by the exit.
Can you spot the hidden Mickey?
A closer look
Work going on between Dumbo and PhilharMagic.. for a new kids play area I believe.
We next walked into Toy Story Land.
A great backstage gate.
Another hidden Mickey at the exit to Slinky Dog Spin
A closer look
A merchandise cart in Toy Story Land.
We next decided to experience the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop.
I believe our hostess said they added this within the last year or so to the queue.
Time to board.
Slinky Dog was visible before we took off.
Heading up.
The view from the top. Beyond Toy Story Land is a backstage/expansion area. I believe the fenced in area in the middle is where the fireworks launch from.
Other guests enjoying the drops and view.
A closer look backstage. Beyond it is the show building for Small World
RC Racer
Turning to look back at the park.
This is looking toward Adventureland
Here is a video of the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop experience (the clicking you hear is my SLR camera not the attraction).
Back on the ground and heading for Slinky Dog.
The restroom building for the area.
From the queue
Our barking pass
Looking up at the queue building.
On board the Slinky Dog Spin.
A short video clip of the Slinky Dog Spin (with three adults it was a little tight and not a good environment to record).
Heading toward Mystic Point
Mystic Point. The Explorers Club is straight ahead.
The Gardens of Wonder is on the left side of the walkway as you enter from Toy Story Land.
The train depot across from Mystic Manor. The story goes this is where Lord Henry unloads his collections.
The Disneyland Railroad goes by (it does not stop here)
You can see into the Jungle River Cruise from the depot.
After unloading Lord Henry used a rail cart to move the items across to the mansion on this track.
Here you can see the cart parked near the attraction entrance.
A couple of toucans in a tree nearby.
Time to cross the street and head for the Manor
The extended queue goes through the garden. I never saw it in use during our trip.
The rail cart with treasures waiting to be offloaded.
Walking through the queue. Here is the ribbon cutting when they opened the estate.
Anyone look familiar? They should... that is a young Walt in the middle.
A look at the latest addition. The Balinese Music Box.
Albert and Lord Henry
The ride vehicles were shown at the Exposition in Paris in 1900.
More familiar faces to all you disneygeeks? How many Imagineers can you name in this photo? Also the Hightower reference...
A closer look.
How about this reference?
The plaque for the above...
A map of the manor
Onboard and ready to go. This round just some pictures..
Albert and the music box.
He touches it and releases the magic dust.
The Monkey King in the China room
After the ride stopped by the Explorers Club Restaurant which was just opening for the day.
It is a scramble format.. pick your food up then pay on the way out.
The first dining room I encountered was India.
Moving on to China
Cutting back through the food court area
Next up Russia.
Last room is Morocco & Egypt
The design on the chairs.
There is an outdoor seating area too and restrooms.
The restrooms
Walking back by the Manor
Next up Grizzly Gulch. Chip and Dale were out front greeting guests as we entered.
A group of performers (I want to say the Welcome Wagon) out performing. I circled back to see them and never caught them again.
Geyser Gulch is a water play area
Chip and Dale were still out by the entrance.
The rest of the group went for a ride on Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars. I stayed behind and took pictures of the area.
The entrance to the attraction.
Can you spot the hidden Mickey (if so you have incredible eyes with this wide shot)
A little tighter shot..
Here it is.. the hidden Mickey in Grizzly Gulch
The popcorn cart in Grizzly Gulch
We are in Adventureland now. Tarzans treehouse through the trees..
The Adventureland trashcans
In the middle of Adventureland was this kiosk selling Korean Squid... which had a distinctive smell that went throughout the area.
A light in Adventureland.
We decided to head for the Jungle River Cruise to end our morning tour.
Along the way another hidden Mickey
To the left the Jungle Cruise to the right Main Street
Time for a cruise.
First some stills then a video.
Back to Main Street to wrap up our tour of the park.
The Paddy Wagon was making the rounds.. we were hungry so decided to head for lunch.
