Disneyland Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
Some work on one of the stairwells of the parking structure.
Cannot tell much progress at La Brea.
A new direction in marketing? Now Park Hopper vs Annual Passes?
Some of the scaffolding and mesh is down on the first section of Buena Vista Street. This is the facade over/around the restroom building.
The other side of the street
Oswalds
Another look at a section that has been completed.
The new Minnie Mouse show premiered today.
Show times. I will circle back for a show in a few pages...
Not much visible progress from this angle. The visible exterior work on the Carthay seems to have slowed.
The Condor Flats lettering has been repainted, barriers still up.
The facades on the West side are really taking shape now.
Still no roof tiles or other exterior elements added to the Carthay.
The Elias and Company Store
Looking down the street.
Moving on to Cars Land. A new sign for Radiator Springs is up (notice it on the lower left of this shot).
A better view.
Maters was testing again, as is the new norm.
A couple of trees have been moved into the middle of the street again. Guessing they are being staged to be installed near Fillmores. (or maybe just to block our view).
A look down Route 66.
The Cozy Cone sign is all done this week. And the brick facade on the old farm building looks done too.
A closer view of the new sign.
Beyond it you can make out Fillmores sign is up now too.
A better look at the Cozy Cone sign.
The touch up painting where the toothpicks were attached is moving along quickly.
The light/speaker posts are still gone.
Speaking of gone the tidal basin has been drained. Guessing because they are working on GRR and needed all the water gone (this is the reservoir for the attraction).
Here you can see the tunnel/pipe the water flows through.
The trees are still in the middle of the walkway on the Wharf to Cars Land connection.
The building extension is almost all done and matches now.
No real visible progress here, but a couple signs with the concept art (same photo that was released with the announcement).
You can just barely make out Fillmores sign through the trees
A closer look.
It looks weird with no water...
Still no fix for the Soarin sign. Assuming it is on order...
As I mentioned earlier Minnies Fly Girls Charter Airline debuted earlier today.
Since there is no real backstage area, the crew arrives and stages off to the side.
Here is a video of the entire show. (Note: The edges are a little out of focus thanks to the wide angle adapter I was using because of the short distance to the stage).
The crew taking the stage.
Minnie arrives and comes through the crowd
Minnie is one of the newer generation of character with the articulating head (mouth the moves, eyes that blink)
Which works great in person and on video but if you have bad luck you get some not so flattering pictures of her.
Or if you have bad luck you get ones like this.
After the show they head off just as they entered (they actually walk all the way out to the Bay Area to head backstage).
The Miner 49ers concluded their run last week. No word yet if another group is going to start performing here.
The park was quite crowded today, I would say it felt like a summer day thanks to Presidents weekend. (Also in this shot you can just barely see Minnies Flight Crew making their way through the crowd on the left side of the walkway).
Here you can see the other side of the water tunnel/pipe (in the shadow on the right in the shot).
The center World of Color platform was at show level all day.
A closer view of the rock face now that it has been completed.
Looking down the route toward the park entrance. The Carthay looks great in the trees.
The far side of the rock face (nearest Screamin) is still being completed. It is being done one story at a time, since it is not as accessible by lift as the other end.
The facade transformation looks almost complete. Just awaiting the new sign.
The detail work underneath looks to be finished now.
Time for a Fun Wheel spin. The Matthorn (through the haze you can see some snow on the real mountains too thanks to a storm earlier this week).
No visible change on the pavement work in front of the Little Mermaid.
Looking great!
A closer view of the now nearly finished face.
Interesting. In the background looks like they stopped the backside wall? Or just finished a portion of it. Hard to tell from this angle but guessing that may be where the show building starts?
A closer look at the rock face they are still working on.
Nothing too drastic jumps out at me as having changed over here.
More fencing going up behind the Cozy Cones. Notice they have repainted the Bugs Land wall and are applying a fencing overlay so it matches the rest of the path.
What is that I spy through the trees. Looks like a new sign.
A closer look. Guessing this is the entrance walkway for the Racers. It says Gateway to Ornament Valley.
Another look at the cones.
A closer look at the new fence facade going up on the backside of Fliks wall.
A closer view of the Cozy Cones.
A better view of the old farm building that is receiving a new facade for Cars Land.
Looks like some repaving work out in the parking lot.
The backstage gates were partially closed so you could get a different view of them.
I always like shots with workers so you can tell the scale a bit.
The side entrance to the shops is open again. They still have the ATM in its temporary housing but looks like it will be back in the wall soon.
Wonder if the main signs are staying or if they will be swapped out?
Ran into this show rolling out for a performance.
A different DJ today (the CM I have seen quite frequently is performing over in the Mardi Gras Celebration at Disneyland I think).
The backside of the restroom/locker facade.
Over to Disneyland. Scaffolding up as they have started the exterior work on the Cafe.
The wait times around 4:20pm
The Coffee stand has reopened.
Nothing jumped out at me as having changed.
The menu.
Some painting going on.
Looks like the work on the island may be done.
Time for the Mardi Gras Celebration that is part of the Bayou Bash.
I posted video last week in case you missed it..
More scaffolding up at the Tomorrowland Train Station (note the train is not stopping here but is running normally for all other stops).
Covers on the windows. Wonder if these are permanent.
Looks like framing is going up for the bridge facade (or is that just a column for the store). Also note the Elias and Company sign.
Looks like the main portion of the street has been poured and they are ready to start the brickwork around the rail line.
A closer look.
A closer shot you can see the planters taking shape. As well as the curve of the street.
The windows on the other side were covered too.
Work continues on the Matterhorn stations. Some concrete has been poured.
A closer look.
Hmm.. wonder what all the markings mean.
The trees in the hub are are starting to bloom.
Random Billies shot.
The wait times just before 6pm
One of the fountains was covered up.
Random flower shot... looks like these are just about ready to bloom.
Since it is presidents weekend stopped by to take in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
The lights were on at Maters (they were blinking/flickering too).
The new Cozy Cone sign was lit up this week.
A better shot.
They were still cycling Maters.
Guessing this has to be close to final show lighting.
Stopped by the Dulce Aventura candy store in the Wharf area. A look at this evenings offerings.
Ready for St. Patrick day already.
Walked through ElecTRONica. Do any of you pay attention to which DJ is performing? I know Disneyland sends out the tweets, but to me it all sounds the same...
Some work was being done in the middle of the area (between the DJ and show area)
Compass Books will be closing soon to make way for Earl of Sandwich
Out at the Disneyland Hotel the character topiaries across from the Fantasy Tower entrance were gone and the area being worked on.
I walked over because I wanted to see the new map at the entrance and it was behind curtains still.
Still no signage on the gift shop.
A better shot of the chandelier in the lobby.
You can see the top portion of the map here.
Another shot.
Random palm tree picture.
To close with a pictures of Minnie and Mickey (noticed the fountains were off this week in the background).
