Disneyland Resort Pictures
The text list below contains the captions of all images in the set.
There were barriers, speakers, and other equipment set up for the 5K and half marathon runs this weekend.
The starting gate was in the Mickey and Friends tram way near the first stop.
Because of the races they shifted the Magic Mornings this past week.
An Aulani ad as you enter the Esplanade
First stop of the day, DCA to check out the construction progress.
Out front the wall has some posters on it now and lights.
I like how the concept art was framed.
Also some of the new attraction posters
Event the lights on the walls work for the Buena Vista street theme.
Once you enter the park you now must make an immediate right hand turn. As you can see there is not a whole lot of space from the entrance to the wall.
More of the posters on the wall.
A couple signs sayings the completion date.
Looking to the left you can see where it dead ends.
Time to head for the park. Notice how the walls move out to give a little more space as you near the exit area.
I thought this was the best, wonder how many tourists / once a decade locals are confused by this sign but for those who have frequently the park the last several years we share this sentiment!
Time to head for the new walkway and into the park.
Once you round the corner there is a trailer set up as a temporary guest relations office.
To give you a better idea of where we are that is Soarin on the right. If you walk straight you will come out at the alley/dining area on the side of Taste Pilots (between it and the back of the Sunshine Plaza buildings)
Looking across the way there are some merchandise carts
Here you can see the hole that was cut in the backstage wall. We are looking back toward where I just entered from.
Thought this was a nice touch. A seating area.
One of the nicest backstage areas you will ever see.
I liked how they painted the back of La Brea Bakery to match the walls even.
Continuing down the walkway.
On the left is the large gate at the end of the extended queue area for Soarin, beyond it is Downtown Disney.
Plenty of signage and CMs along the walkway to help you out.
Turning left from the previous shot the entranceway to the park.
Looking back down the walkway.
Another merchandise cart.
More carts up ahead.
Again plenty of signs to try and help.
A better shot of the cart.
The popcorn cart looks like it has been moved slightly.
An information kiosk.
The sign changed messages to tell you how to exit. Right now it said this and park exit. Later in the day other directions.
Turning left and walking by Taste Pilots the new walkway around the fountain/Carthay/pump house is open, but it is a corridor of walls.
To the left is where the train used to be to the right is the pump house. Straight ahead the new fountain.
Where the brickwork for the Red Car line ends right now.
The curve. The station will be to the right by the pump house building.
The exterior of the Carthay is starting to go on.
The steel plates are the the marquee
This parth continues around the fountain to the left and curves out to the Backlot.
Looking down where the Carthay stop will be. Notice the date... a nod to Snow Whites opening.
Looking back.
A better shot of the rail as it curves around.
A long straight shot into the Backlot. The walls extend down to Disney Junior now.
Looking back
Here is the end of the wall, to my left is Disney Juniors entrance.
The other side of the street is blocked off about the same point.
Walking back up the path and taking the left near the Pump House, the Carthay is on my left here.
On to Cars Land shots now...
The facade on this building is going up.
A look down Route 66
A closer look at the work
Telephone poles are going in and scaffolding is up around the Court House.
No exterior on Docs yet.
A pan across the Cadillac Range from the left to right.
The fins are looking great now that the scaffolding is slowly being removed.
Flos
Looks like they cut a hole in the shake at Maters to open the front.
A wide shot.
Hard to tell if any progress on the backside of the rock wall has been made, but there are definitely a lot of toothpicks sticking out now all the way along and around the parade building.
The far side looks to be receiving them now.
Now from the Fun Wheel. Notice all the scaffolding that is gone.
A closer look at the toothpicks above/along the parade building.
No visible progress on the entrance arch
The wall around the Flying Tires is up. On the wall are a couple of speakers
The fountain was going this afternoon but no one in it.
The Green Army men nearby.
The Carthay
Looks like they are digging the footers for the rest of the Cozy Cones
Back to the Racers. No signs of ride testing this evening. Guessing that is being done inside right now since they are still finishing up rockwork along the track.
Looks like a bumper/curb is installed on the Flying Tires surface.
Another view of Maters shack
Sligo Rags performing on the Paradise Garden Bandstand. Here is a clip from their show.
Heading back around to exit.. again plenty of signage to help. This is right near where you would turn to head out.
A better shot of some of the merchandise
A walk out of the park to try and help show the layout/exit path. Also you can hear some new background music once we get backstage. Wonder if that will be for Buena Vista Street.
Notice the end couple of stalls on the new entrance/exit do not have turnstiles.
Over to Disneyland. The Disney Visa Kiosk is gone.
Halloween is moving in as Summer wraps up. The Main Street windows have been swapped out.
A crew set up to record the Soundsational Parade
Plenty of Halloween merchandise out.
The front of the Emporium is open. Pictures later...
Guessing this is for the races this weekend.
Not an bad wait for Star Tours
Kind of interesting.. only a couple rows of strollers near Nemo/Autopia.
Some Monorail shots.
Wonder how long that big Memories sign will stay out there.. this would be such a better shot without it.
Looking out the other way on a second pass.
To the left is the locker/restroom building.
The entrance/exit.
Gates set up to mark the running path.
Quite a few people over at the Hotel this afternoon because a Health and Fitness Expo as well as race registration was going on.
They are close to opening a walkway to get into the hotel again without having to walk around front of the Fantasy Tower. A cast member I spoke to said the original plan was for it to open after they completed work for the day, I walked by a couple of times and saw workers so not sure when they wrapped up and if it opened.
The finish line for the races.
Noticed tarps up.. wonder if that means the wall is down and they are close to opening this too. This is the walkway from the convention center area over to the main lobby.
A look at who was at the expo.
There were guest speakers and presentations too. I happened to stop by during a break.
Of course a gift shop.
Some of the merchandise
The other half side of the convention center (the larger side) was set up with the exhibitors
Found this funny to have an ABC booth.. does not really fit the theme of health and fitness to stay home and watch TV. They were screening several shows in the Adventure Tower and you could go and watch, get free things, and fill out a survey.
Another odd choice.. the DVC booth.
Plenty of options to display your tag, medal, etc..
A closer shot of the medal
At the runDisney booth, an interesting take on the glass slipper.
One of the more popular booths, the Angels one which featured a give away, you spun the wheel and the Angels girl would give you a price.
This is a training simulator / control console for the robot/surgical machine in the previous shot.
A photo op location
No visible change to the lobby yet.
Looks like they were finishing up the walkway on the other side of the gift shop.
No noticeable change over here.
The parking lot side of the Fantasy Tower looks to be done on the exterior.
Now over to the Courtyard side of things.
A new wall going up.
The current posters outside of DCA
The back rooms of the Emporium are walled off now.
The front portion is all reopened.
Now a look around.
Here you can see the walled off area.
The overhead displays look to be the same.
The big change in the store is the cash registers were moved to the outter ring and the middle is all merchandise now.
A look at some of the Halloween merchandise
A cash register area.
Where they used to be.
Where they are now.
The queue to check out. It bothered me a bit.. reminded me of Frys for some reason with the stuff as you check out in such quantity.
Come next year this bakery will be gone.
And this will be reconfigured
The back of the Penny Arcade is walled off.
Speaking of walls the ones for the Jolly Holiday Bakery now have signs on them.
The wait times around 5:30.
Is this a new map near the lineboard?
Strolled through Plaza Gardens, construction starts later this fall for the Fantasy Faire
A like the peaceful area of the park and the entertainment on the band stand. The chaos of a Princess Faire is going to be a big change in tempo for the area.
Walls extend down the left side walkway (the wood boardwalk) from the Golden Horseshoe through Frontierland.
More Halloween
Inside the Golden Horseshoe they have new extensions on the balcony railings. Guess the confirms why it has been closed.
They look awkward to me, but guess there were not many choices when taking sight lines, safety, etc.. into account. Also getting it reopened in a timely manner.
Looks like they are ready to reopen soon.
Guests claiming their spots for Fantasmic. Still amazing that a show that started almost 20 years ago (1992) still has a fair number of people lining up 3 hours before showtime on a nightly basis.
Cycling some of the lights as they prepare for the show.
Mansion is down for a few weeks as it receives the Holiday overlay.
No exterior progress is visible yet.
The wait times around 6:20
Looks like some railing painting going on.
While photographing the railings heard an odd sound near by. Seems some piece of equipment was making a noise. I walked by a couple times and it was doing this each time. Here is a short video clip, you can sort of hear it.
Ghost Galaxy speakers and projectors are installed
A random Nemo shot.
Matterhorn is back, same old bobsleds.
The Soundsational parade.. should be fun to see it in a few weeks after dark with the lights in full effect.
The first set of Elvis was delayed then cancelled I think. They never made any announcements. I left at 7:15 and it was supposed to start at 7:00.
Another pass at some Main Street windows
Another of the braille maps.
Over to DCA. Did not notice it during the day, but notice the lights are different depending which wall they are on.
Also did not catch the wall built around the new trees as soon as you enter.
Plenty of lights along the walkway.
As well as Castmembers helping to keep traffic moving.
One of the large gates was open as an exit.
Stroller and wheelchair returns.
A lot more people in the area this evening.
The signage to help you exit.
Walking back through the corridor of walls.
The sun setting will offer some great shots!
Looks like all the lights in Paradise Garden are now operating
Still seems weird no lights on the sign.
Made a short visit to ElecTRONica
Back to Paradise Gardens. I did not have a tripod so really could not do much to capture the lights..
Stopped to watch World of Color. Noticed some work lights on in Cars Land.
After the show one of the screens stayed on a while.
A better shot of the work lights
The exit crowd after World of Color.. make a note to try and not enter the park around that time..
Thought this was cool.. notice the fireworks from Magical below and in the background. The angle was great. Too bad I could not stop to take more!
Looking back.
And down the long walkway. I opted for the Downtown Disney exit.
To close with a shot of the park map which shows the new entrance way. Also a shadowed outline of Buena Vista Street.
