Trip Log:

Arrived at the park a bit earlier than usual and was surprised to find it not insanely busy. First stop of the day was Disneyland. I strolled down Main Street and verred into Adventureland to meet some friends who were just finishing up on the Jungle Cruise. We circled around through Frontierland and over to Big Thunder which unfortunately was down so we walked through the hub and down the parade route to the Small World Mall. Waited for the Toy Soldier Jam session then doubled back down the parade route and headed for DCA. Walked through Condor Flats and spent some time roaming around Buena Vista Street checking out the Carthay and other progress then wandered down to the Blue Sky Cellar patio to get some Cars Land pictures. Rejoined my group by Taste Pilots and we headed out to the Pier. Stopped by Little Mermaid which had a 5 minute wait then walked onto the Zephyr. Continued around and waited about 15 minutes for the non swinging Fun Wheel car. Finished the loop of the Pier and walked through the Wharf area. Took some more Cars Land pictures and then went to wait for the rest of the group who were on Soarin. We walked back to Disneyland, stopped by the Gallery to see the train exhibit and then headed down Main Street. Went for a spin on Buzz and then decided to grab dinner. Some at the Plaza Inn and others hicked over to the Golden Horseshoe to grab some food and returned to eat on Main Street. As we wrapped up eating the Christmas Fantasy Paradee was going by. We managed to cross into the hub right before the last unit and walked out to Small World Holiday. Went for a ride just as the Toy Workshop units were making their by. After Small World hung around to watch the projection show then headed for Toontown. Roamed around a bit, walking through Mickeys House, before walking back down the parade route. Stopped in front of the Castle for the 7:30 winter time enchantment event. After the snow fall made my way back to DCA and out to the ElecTRONica to see ILLUMINATE perform at 8pm. After the performance wandered around and out to the Blue Sky Cellar area for a couple more Cars Land shots before returning to Disneyland. The fireworks had been cancelled but I hung around for the White Christmas finale which ran with a Winter Time Enchantment segment in its place. After the snow made my way to the tram, car, and home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Moderate Walking Stats (meaning over 2.5mph): 13,018 steps, 115 minutes.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

Hello all,

I had not originally planned on going to the parks this week but found out a friend and his family were going so decided to go visit them and the parks. The crowds this week were substantially heavier than last week. I would best describe them as summerish... they were not holiday gridlock but definitely more than usual most of the day. With some planning, Fastpass, and a little luck though they were able to visit all the attractions they wanted to see.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • I arrived at the parks a bit earlier than usual and was pleasantly surprised to find the parking structure a breeze to park in and no delays reaching the parks.

  • Today I finally managed to see the Toy Soldier Jam Session. Current show times are: 8:40 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:20 p.m., and 1:10 p.m daily. Why this is not on any entertainment schedule is beyond me. The Lazygeek even asked at the info board on Main Street and they could not find it on their entertainment schedule. This brief show features a half dozen drummers (believe they are the ones from the Soundsational parade since the parade is not running this holiday season). I thought it was very entertaining and I would rate it higher/better than the brief skit they were doing during the regular time of the year. Here is video of the performance in case you missed it in the pictorial update.

  • As you saw in the pictures I took way too many construction shots again. It had been just a week, but so much visible progress at both the Cars Land and Buena Vista Street projects I could not stop. It is really at the point in both projects where we get to see a lot of changes really quickly.

  • Fireworks for the evening were cancelled early in the day (want to say around sunset), which we all thought was really odd. It was not wind related and even if it was it was way too early in the day. I have since read online that they shows were cancelled because they had a couple of mishaps over the previous days. Shows were also cancelled on Christmas Eve but I believe went as scheduled on Christmas.

  • I went over to ElecTRONica in the evening to see the group called Illuminate perform. They were on Americas Got Talent for you TV show folks (I had never seen them but was curious). Their show was entertaining. Brief, just like all the other dance groups, but enjoyable. I found the techno remixes of Christmas songs a bit odd. Also I thought on the whole ElecTRONica felt kind of empty and not that energetic.

  • Back to Disneyland for the snow fall, Main Street had a healthy crowd, but nothing like the fireworks draw. Guess many guests decided to bail out when they heard they were cancelled. At first I found it annoying that they played the cancellation message over the full park public address system several times but then upon reflection I guess it makes sense so guests can plan their evening. Wonder why it was not sent out via twitter or other means too?
