Presenting this weekend only … The Disneyland Story! With your host: The Walt Disney Family Museum. Join us for an amazing weekend of discussions and film as we take the incredible journey from idea to creation of the most loved place on earth!  Exactly 55 years ago, Walt opened the doors to the happiest place on earth, located in Anaheim, California. Fortunately for us, travel arrangements down South aren’t needed as we’re bringing the celebration and special Disneyland guests to heart of San Francisco for a weekend you don’t want to miss!

July 17 – Disneyland’s Growth, Development and Stature from the Past to the Present

As Walt said, “Disneyland will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the World.” Former Disneyland Presidents Jack Lindquist and Matt Ouimet, are joined by Senior Vice-President of Creative Development for Disneyland, Tony Baxter, as they discuss the development of Disneyland, its impact on America, and Walt’s legacy.

July 18 – The Happiest Places on Earth: A Look at Disney Parks Around the Globe

Disney Legends Dick Nunis and Marty Sklar along with Craig Russell and Bruce Vaughn from Walt Disney Imagineering explore how Walt Disney’s new concept in family entertainment, Disneyland, was a catalyst for parks around the world.

JUNE DISNEY DISCOVERIES! + LOOK CLOSER SERIES

DISNEY DISCOVERIES: Second Saturday of each month

July 10 – Disney Discoveries! Build a Better Bird House
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Learning Center Art Studio
Make a bird cage like the twins, Susan and Sharon, in The Parent Trap. Build and paint your own bird cage from an easy to assemble design made from recycled materials.

Imaginations and creativity will soar with our new Disney Discoveries! The second Saturday of each month, join us for family fun and activities in the Learning Center.  The activities planned by our education staff will inspire the hidden artist in young visitors while learning about the life and work of Walt Disney.

The Disney Discoveries! Activities are free with paid admission to the Museum.  No ticket is needed for members—just show your membership card.

Look closer at the photo of the Mills family—with actress Hayley Mills, her father and actor John Mills, and her mother Mary Hayley Bell—on set of the Swiss Family Robinson with Walt!

Would you like to know more about one of the artifacts in the galleries?  Our Look Closer series will give you that opportunity—staff will reveal little known facts, behind the scenes information, or just additional during the 5 to 8-minute gallery talk.

The Look Closer series is free with paid admission to the Museum. Members are always free and no ticket is needed. Just show your membership card.
